The York Region Arts Council is thrilled to announce the relaunch of www.ExperienceYorkRegion.com featuring the Artist Portal!

The Artist Portal is a digital hub for the art community in York Region. The Artist Portal provides individual artists, artist collectives, and arts organizations the opportunity to connect and grow their network in a significant way. It is also a tool for the broader York Region community, Municipalities, and local businesses to connect with artists in a more meaningful way with the goals of increasing awareness and infusing arts and culture within our communities through increased opportunities for artists, new connections, and promotional capabilities.

Join us in welcoming our new Summer Event Assistant, Annie, to the team!

Annie is an undergraduate student studying architectural design and visual arts at the University of Toronto. She loves experimenting with paint mediums and socializing with people. Her focus allows her to explore different opportunities to engage with the community.

Annie has already added so much energy and enthusiasm to the events that she's helped with and will continue to be with YRAC for the rest of the summer into the fall season. Be sure to say hi when you see her in the community!

In 2021, Members of Parliament voted unanimously to officially recognize August 1 as Emancipation Day in Canada. August 1 is significant because it marks the day in 1834 when the Slavery Abolition Act came into effect, after being passed by the British Parliament.

While the day commemorates the abolishment of slavery, it is a time to take a pause and reflect on the journey towards complete freedom for those of African descent in Canada.

This past weekend, talented vendors showcased artistry, crafts, clothing, and more! We were especially thrilled to support our very own YRAC member, Jing Fu , whose live oil painting demonstrations captivated the crowd. 😍🖌️
