Here’s a look at Cohort 89 at IBEW Local 353! ⚡🔌

Participants are getting hands-on experience in the electrical trade by learning how to wire light switches and electrical outlets. They practiced making proper connections, working with electrical components, and using tools safely while developing foundational skills for a career in the electrical trades.

In 2025, 247 participants completed training through Blue Door’s Construct program, gaining hands-on experience, industry knowledge, and the skills they need to pursue careers in the skilled trades.

Here’s a look at Cohorts 87 & 88 at the Construct Training Centre! 🛠️

Participants are putting their framing skills into practice by building an outdoor bar. They measured, cut, and assembled wood to create the structure, gaining hands-on experience with tools and construction techniques along the way. This project gave participants the opportunity to work as a team and see their skills come together to build something from the ground up.

What do insulators do? 🏗️

Insulators install, replace, and repair insulation in buildings, factories, and mechanical systems like pipes and ductwork. They work with thermal, acoustic, and fire-stopping materials to help keep buildings comfortable, energy efficient, and safe.

From controlling indoor temperatures and reducing noise to preventing moisture damage and slowing the spread of fire, insulators play an important role in creating safer, more efficient spaces.

Through Construct, participants gain hands-on training and exposure to the skilled trades, building the tools, techniques, and workplace skills they need to take the next step toward a career in the industry.

Last month, the Construct team had the opportunity to share Construct's story with the CIBC Foundation Board, highlighting how we’re creating pathways out of homelessness through skills training, employment opportunities, and community connection. 🚧🏗️

Addressing homelessness takes access to opportunities, stability, and a community that believes in people’s potential. A huge thank you to CIBC for their continued support of Construct and for empowering individuals facing barriers in transitioning to autonomous and full-time employment in the trades. 💙

Ontario's construction industry is expected to keep growing through 2035, driven by a rebound in residential building and continued demand for major non-residential projects like hospitals, transit, and infrastructure. Construction employment is also projected to grow, creating more opportunities for skilled trades workers across the province.

At Construct, we're helping prepare the next generation of skilled trades professionals with the training, hands-on experience, and industry connections they need to build Ontario's future. 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️

Here’s a look at Cohorts 87 & 88 at the Construct Training Centre! 🏠🛠️

Participants are learning the fundamentals of framing by building window frames. They measured and cut lumber to size, assembled the framing components, and practiced techniques used to create strong, properly aligned window openings. This hands-on project is helping them build practical carpentry skills and confidence on the job site.
