🍂 October Sustainability Spotlight: Reducing Waste in Our Community

New Tecumseth ACTS – taking action for environmental sustainability and climate resiliency.

Did you know?
October is Circular Economy Month, a time to rethink how we use, reuse, repair, and recycle. Reducing waste helps conserve resources, lower emissions, and keep our community cleaner.

What the Town is doing:
✅ Promoting waste diversion through recycling and organics collection in Town facilities.
🚮 Supporting community clean-up efforts through the Adopt-a-Road Program, where volunteers help keep local roadsides clean and litter-free.
💧 Reducing waste at Town Hall by eliminating single-use water bottles and providing staff with reusable tumblers and refillable canteens.

What YOU can do:
🔧 Support local Repair Cafés and give broken items a second life.
📚 Borrow tools, gadgets, games, and more through the Library of Things at the New Tecumseth Public Library.
🥣 Choose refillable containers and bulk purchasing options to reduce packaging waste.
🛍️ Donate, swap, repair, or buy second-hand to help keep usable items out of landfill.

Every small action makes a difference. Together, we can reduce waste, conserve resources, and build a more sustainable New Tecumseth.
