Question & Answer Time:
If clients pay for meals, why do you fundraise?

Answer:

Airdrie Meals on Wheels exists to ensure qualifying residents have access to proper nutrition when health, mobility, social, or situational circumstances make shopping or meal preparation difficult.

Eligibility is not based on income. However, we recognize that some clients, particularly seniors, also face financial challenges. Our sliding-scale fee helps address this need.
Funds raised through donations and fundraising help subsidize meals, keeping them affordable and ensuring financial circumstances never become a barrier to receiving nutritious food.

💙 Many hands truly do make lighter work!

As a 100% volunteer-run essential service, we take great pride in our team and the way everyone pulls together to keep Airdrie Meals on Wheels moving forward.

Adding a few new people to our crew — getting them trained, confident, and ready to step into different roles and tasks — is fantastic! We are so grateful to everyone who has reached out, asked how they can help, and especially to those who have now joined us. 🥰

Thank you for stepping up and being part of the team! Your time, energy, and willingness to help make a real difference.

Keep up the great work, team! 👏

Winter is just around the corner, and with it comes an increase in the need for our services. Having more volunteers ready to lend a hand means we’ll be better prepared to meet that need — together. 💙

💙 September had our numbers climbing again!

A big shout-out to our amazing volunteer drivers who handled the increased volume with their usual dedication — while still making time for those friendly hellos, quick visits, and little moments of connection that mean so much to our clients.

You don’t just deliver meals… you deliver a little kindness along the way. 🥰

We salute you, drivers! 🚗👏💙
Thank you for everything you do for Airdrie Meals on Wheels!

💙 A LITTLE AUGUST REFLECTION…

August was a little slower for our volunteer team—and if we’re being completely honest, that was okay. We needed it.

Our small but incredibly dedicated volunteer force has faced a few hurdles lately. We’ve said goodbye to clients, and those losses always leave us feeling a little somber. 💔

And our volunteers have been navigating their own hurdles too—jumping over obstacles, spinning in circles, grieving, recuperating, and for some, simply finding a way through survival mode.

So, a slower August gave us a chance to breathe.

We’re also incredibly grateful that some new team members have stepped up and stepped in to help carry the load. We’re looking forward to getting to know them, working alongside them, and welcoming them into our little volunteer family. 💙

To every volunteer who continues to show up, even when life is throwing hurdles your way: thank you. Your time, compassion and dedication make such a difference to the people we serve.

Here’s to September—and taking it one day, one delivery, and one hurdle at a time. ❤️
