We’re excited to share our new RVF resident colouring book, featuring 10 pages inspired by places and scenery from in and around Rocky View!

It’s a simple and fun way for our residents to get creative while colouring scenes inspired by the communities and places that feel close to home. 🎨

We can’t wait to see how our residents bring each page to life — one colour at a time!

🌸 Creativity in Bloom! 🌸

Over the past two weeks, our residents have been getting creative with clay, carefully crafting beautiful flowers, including poppies, calla lilies, zinnias and more! 🌺🎨

This week, it was time to bring those creations to life with a little colour! We love seeing each flower take on its own personality as our residents add their finishing touches.

There’s something pretty special about watching a project come together from a simple piece of clay into something completely unique and handmade. 💚

We can’t wait to see the finished masterpieces — stay tuned! 🌷✨

A Little Time for Self-Care

Rocky View Lodge residents recently enjoyed a special self-care class that combined creativity, conversation and a little time to focus on themselves.

During the class, residents created and decorated beautiful keepsake boxes — a special place to store important items, treasured memories and meaningful belongings.

It was a wonderful opportunity to slow down, get creative and enjoy time together while celebrating the importance of self-care.

And, of course, everyone went home with a beautiful creation of their own!

Now THAT’S a Way to Celebrate a Birthday!

Rocky View Lodge resident Luke Mouthann celebrated his 94th birthday this August in true Luke fashion — by jumping out of an airplane!

Each year on his birthday, Luke marks the occasion with a tandem skydive, and this year he successfully completed jump #6, including another great landing!

But Luke has an even bigger goal in mind. He plans to complete 10 jumps and continue his birthday skydiving tradition until he turns 100!

Happy 94th Birthday, Luke! Here’s to another incredible adventure, another successful landing, and many more birthday jumps to come.

94 years young and still reaching new heights!

Western Afternoon Tea at Rocky View Lodge!

Rocky View Lodge residents recently brought together a little elegance and a little western flair for a special Western Afternoon Tea!

Residents broke out the finery, complete with an assortment of beautiful teacups and saucers and, of course, a touch of western décor. The Lodge’s fantastic kitchen team made the afternoon even sweeter with freshly prepared scones served with jam and cream.

Rocky View Lodge was also delighted to welcome special guest Shelby Oldale, the reigning Rimbey Rodeo Princess, who joined residents for the tea party and helped make the afternoon extra special.

Beautiful china, delicious treats, great company and a little country charm made for a wonderful afternoon at Rocky View Lodge!

A Day at the Farm!

Rocky View Lodge residents recently enjoyed another wonderful visit to the Oldale family farm, located just west of Crossfield.

Residents had a great time visiting with all their four-legged and feathered friends, including horses, sheep, pigs, a donkey, dogs, cats, chickens and pheasants! 🐴🐑🐖🐓

The Oldale family has become very special to the Rocky View Lodge community, generously welcoming residents back to their farm and continuing to share their family, animals and country life with them.

The weather made for a beautiful day — although maybe a little on the hot side! Of course, there’s no better way to cool down than with a Dairy Queen stop on the way home.

A big thank you to the Oldale family for another memorable visit and for always making Rocky View Lodge residents feel so welcome.

Exploring New Trails!

Rocky View Lodge’s Walking Group has been out exploring again! This time, residents ventured along the Meadowlark Trail between Irricana and Beiseker, a refurbished railway line that offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and crosses Rosebud Creek.

The group covered approximately 4 km during their outing — a great way to enjoy some fresh air, stay active, and discover another beautiful trail in the local area.

Way to go, walkers!

A Lifetime of Creativity at Rocky View Lodge

Rocky View Lodge residents recently enjoyed a special art exhibit featuring the incredible work of Gabe Zeigler.

Over his lifetime, Gabe has built hundreds of intricate wooden models completely from scratch, including cars, trains, airplanes, farm implements, and so much more. Each piece reflects an incredible amount of patience, skill, and craftsmanship, with many taking hundreds of hours to complete.

While the majority of Gabe’s creations have been sold over the years, he was kind enough to share his scrapbook filled with photographs of his work, along with a few of the special models he still has, with Rocky View Lodge residents.

It was a wonderful opportunity to see the talent behind these one-of-a-kind creations and hear the stories of a lifetime spent creating. Thank you, Gabe, for sharing your incredible craftsmanship with the Rocky View Lodge community!
