Here are some details on the Lace Up to End Diabetes - Airdrie on November 14!

Let's keep the miracle of Drs. Banting and Best and continue to fund research to end diabetes!

People keep asking what Lace Up actually is, so here it is.

You register, pick up your glow laces, and walk a 1.2 km loop with your neighbours, glow sticks bobbing all around you. Do as many laps as you like. There's hot chocolate, music, a kid zone, raffle prizes, and a medal at the finish. Our friends at Ahadu Coffee Roasters (.ca) will be there too, so come caffeinated. Nobody's timing you. Lots of people walk it with grandparents, strollers, or a very excited dog.

Today is Lions Clubs International Foundation Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Show your support for those who are touched by breast cancer.

Mammograms save lives; be sure you are up to date on your screening. Early detection is key.

Did you know that breast cancer also affects 300 Canadian men each year as well? Know your body and see your primary care provider if you have questions.

Let's work together to make this disease history!

Come out on World Diabetes Day and support Lace Up to End Diabetes - Airdrie! Every three minutes, one person in Canada is diagnosed with Diabetes. Diabetes research is a key pillar of Lionism and we are proud to be the sponsors of this event in Airdrie!

Congratulations to Airdrie Lions' own Bill Simpson! Bill is the winner of the June Volunteer of the Month award from Volunteer Airdrie! Congratulations, Bill, and thanks for all you do for the community!

June's Volunteer of the Month was Bill Simpson!

For many years, Bill has been a key organizer of the Airdrie Lions Club Canada Day BBQ. He coordinates all the food, the volunteers, and the set up. The Lions Club has recently partnered with Airdrie Foodbank for this BBQ fundraiser. Bill is in his 90th year and he was a key contributor to the planning , collaboration, and ex*****on of this very successful fundraiser. We appreciate his dedication to this important work!
