Another big birthday wish today for my uncle Charles. One of the reasons he is so great with the animals is that we are pretty sure there were still actual dinosaurs roaming the earth when he was born! If you've seen us out at our big presentations you've most likely seen him there talking about our tarantulas! We really do try to keep him away from people as much as possible which is why we put him with the scarier animals that people tend to avoid :) In all honesty though, just like my mom, he is always volunteering and offering to help with things he most likely regrets offering to do and for that I am forever grateful.

A very happy birthday to this amazing woman I call Mom! Even though she is super old, frail and falling apart, she is still the first person to offer to help at any event we have! One of her favorite things to do is hit me after I tell people "tortoises necks feel like old people skin" while pointing at her arm and telling people to go check if they don't believe me. I don't know why or how she puts up with me but I appreciate her being my number one supporter since this crazy idea of mine started! Happy birthday Mom!

Holy toads!! Raina, Paige, Greg and I had quite the adventure finding and trying not to step on THOUSANDS of Western toads! We wanted to wait a few weeks to post this in hopes that the toads would have migrated into the forest away from others wanting to catch them for pets! They aren't quite endangered but they are close so we want to make sure as many survive as possible. Sadly, many most likely were killed as they hopped across the road to get into the forest.

Did you know there are scorpions ( and I mean a lot of scorpions) in Penticton? If you are comfortable going out at night with nothing but a black light while navigating the black widows you can find some pretty amazing creatures like the northern scorpion!

Need reptile food? Wild Education in Abbotsford is increasing its stock and now has super worms available for $0.11 each! These are not pre packed so get as many or as little as you'd like! We also have our usual frozen rats sales and discoid cockroach starter colonies (some already have babies!) which consist of 2 adult males, 2 adult females and 6 mixed nymphs for $25.
Available every Tuesday and Saturday from 5pm-7pm. 30990 wheel Ave, Abbotsford. No appointment necessary, just show up!

Rescue/surrender #68 for 2026.
This poor geckos name is Geo. She is around 7 years old and was surrendered yesterday in pretty rough shape. She has the standard eye issues we see in leopard geckos and we started working on her right away. The before and afters are about 1 hour apart. She is also going to lose that toe that is completely dead and about to fall off. We did post a video yesterday about her condition as well as removing the skin/abscesses and you can see them on our page.
Please always do your research when purchasing or adopting an animal of any kind as this is 100% preventable.

Imagine the relief this poor gecko is feeling now!
For anyone who follows our page, you know we receive many rescue leopard geckos each year that are in the exact same condition. These are the first steps towards this gecko's recovery. This leopard gecko has been like this for about 3 months and within 1 hour of being at our rescue she could see again. Please always do your research before purchasing any type of pet as this is 100% preventable. Also, please do not attempt to do any of this in the video unless you actually know what you're doing as you can hurt the gecko if this is done incorrectly.
