Let God guide you

Read Psalms 119: 105–1 12

Are you sometimes afraid of things? Are you unsure about what you should do when you have a problem? Turn to God‘s word, study it and use it to direct you. Let the Bible be your light.

God brings balance to life.

Read Jeremiah 29:11–13.

Have you been reading the Bible every day and letting God speak to your heart? When you do that faithfully, the troubles or temptations in your life won’t be too strong for you. The Lord is waiting and ready to help you balance your life.

Jeremiah 29:13.

And you shall seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Say thank you

Read Psalm 136:1–9, 23–26

Do you say thank you to those who help you? It shows them you appreciate what you do. Do you also thank God for helping you – do you tell him that you appreciate him? Why not stop right now and say, thank you, Lord, for something specific that he’s done for you.

Psalm 92:1

It is good to give thanks to the Lord.

Prepare your heart for worship

Read Psalms 57:7–11

Do you prepare your heart for worship? Get up early to read some scripture and praise God so your heart will be ready to listen and worship.

Psalm 10:17

Lord, you have heard the desire of the humble; you will prepare their heart; you will cause your ear to hear.

Rest in God’s Care

Read Psalm27:5-14

Where do you go when you are hurt, sad, afraid or disappointed? When you need to get away and hide, remember that God wants to protect you. Think about him. Talk to him. Ask him to hold, keep calm and comfort you in the bad times - and the good times too!

You shall hide them in the secret places of your… from the strife of tongues.

Choose music carefully

Read Matthew 12:33 to 37.

What kind of material do you store in your memory as you listen to music? Be careful to fill your heart and mind with music that glorify the Lord. Then what goes in and what comes out will be pleasing to God.

God keeps his promises.

Read Genesis 9:8–17.

Has anyone ever broken a promise to you? Have plans or events changed, leaving you disappointed? It hurts when promises are not kept, but you’ll never know that kind of disappointment with God. His word never changes. He always keeps his promises.

First Thessalonians 5:24

He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.

Love the unlovely

Read Luke 10:30–37.

Do you help other people whenever you can – even when they seem “Icky” to you? God loves them, and he wants you to love them too. He wants you to treat them as neighbors and to love them as you love yourself. That’s loving quite a lot, isn’t it?

Matthew 19:19

You shall love your Neighbour as yourself.

Listen to God

Read Psalm 46:1–11

Are you a good listener when others are talking? Be sure that you take time to listen to God too. Read – and reread – the scriptures, meditate and think on what they say, and be still enough to listen to God.

Psalm 46:10

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the Earth!
