As you may have noticed there is alot of activity at Matsqui Community Hall this week.
The Matsqui Hall Board of Directors are super excited to start a major project at the hall. After three years of applying for both federal and provincial grants, we have finally secured funding for the much needed roof replacement. Roofers started work on Monday, and the weather is cooperating with cooler temperatures. Stay tuned for further updates and pictures as work progresses. It is anticipated that our new roof will be completed by September 8th. We can’t wait to see the final results!

This weekend's event was a rich cultural experience with its ups and downs, but overall, it seems everyone had a wonderful time. It was an Arabic celebration, with a separate ladies' event followed by a men's gathering. The second day was filled with an impressive amount of food — if you're trying to figure out the dish, yes, that is a lamb head, served traditionally with the mouth open and looking up.

The groom was incredibly kind and went above and beyond to ensure his guests were taken care of. The men’s dancing was powerful and fascinating to watch. I was even given a traditional outfit to wear, which was such a thoughtful gesture.

Grateful to have been part of such a meaningful celebration.
