Central Fraser Valley Woodcarvers The aim of the Club is to provide an opportunity for woodcarvers of all levels to meet, learn, and advance their skills & share their knowledge & techniques.

1) We have weekly meetings to socialize, learn from each other and share experiences, tips & techniques;

2) We also hold carving courses and seminars on a variety of projects - these courses are run by an experienced member of our club;

3) We offer our members many resources from our extensive library of books, magazines, patterns and ideas for new projects;

4) Our monthly newsletter will keep all members up-to-date on Club news and Events;

5) We also liaison with many other Clubs from the Pacific Northwest and across North America;

6) Our Annual Woodcarvers Show is a great opportunity to showcase our members efforts and traditionally attracts many carvers items from BC, WA and beyond!

What a crappy day ... outside.☔️

That's why it's perfect weather to join us at the Chilliwack Heritage Park today at the "Train & Hobby Show" until 4pm.

It's not just trains, along with us, it's the Fraser Valley Woodturners Guild, there's ceramics, fluffy animals, food, clothing and more for sale, along with lots of train, models, lego, soaps and other stuff for sale!

Day one at this year's Chilliwack Heritage Park is on, lots of folks coming through and chatting with a number of Club members (thanks to Roy, Jim, Bonnie, Alvina, Tracinda, and Brian for being there today) on site carving and displaying their projects.

If you have a chance this weekend, we will be participating in the Train & Hobby Show at Chilliwack Heritage Park, from 10am to 4pm both days! CFVW members will be showcasing finished woodcarvings and also doing live woodcarving demonstrations.

There's lots & lots, & lots of things to see and we'll post pictures over the weekend. Hope we see you there!

While there was no Club member carving this evening, however, there was our 2nd class at Chilliwack ElderCollege for new carvers this afternoon.

We did a review of the 4 basic carving cuts, routine stropping to keep your knife sharp, and then started this week's project as chosen by the students, a basswood comfort bird.

Some great progress made by everyone, lots of good questions from the students, and some recommended homework for next week's class.

As is normal on Wednesday evening, tonight was or regular Woodcarving evening.

Thanks again to Dan for his work on the sale of many of Ken's carving and woodworking equipment, it was great to see so much leaving tonight with new owners!

It was also good to see members chatting amongst themselves while getting some work done on their current projects.

It's was a busy day for some of our club members today.

This was our first of four 'Introduction to Woodcarving' classes we are presenting through the Chilliwack ElderCollege at UFV.

Roy, Bonnie, Jim & Mark welcomed 10 participants to this afternoon's class and worked them through some initial carving information and tool use. We look forward to seeing their progress over the next week before class #2.

In addition to everything else on tap at last night's club meeting, there was also an enjoyable 'show & tell' with a nice display of finished projects by a number of members, along with some fresh projects being worked on!
