Archway Family Centre - The Parenting Place Family Centre ~ The Parenting Place is a Family Resource Program. Families in the Abbotsford area can access support, resources and obtain referral information.

Family Centre ~ The Parenting Place offers a variety of programs for parents and children that include Community Drop-ins, Pre/postnatal supports, Literacy information, Post Partum information, Parenting classes, Mother Goose/I Got You Babe programming for young children and their parents, and Father support programming.

The math makes sense. Prevention saves public dollars. When we invest early in children and families, we can address the challenges that people face every day before they reach a crisis point.

🌟This is just one of the reasons that we're advocating for greater investment and support for BC's Family Resource Programs.

What does provincial policy have to do with Family Resource Programs?

A lot – because the goals we set for children and families only matter if they’re felt in everyday life.

BC’s Child and Youth Well-Being Framework sets out a vision for children to thrive. Family Resource Programs put that vision into practice every day, creating welcoming places where families can build connections, find support and access resources in their communities.

That’s why investing in FRPs matters. They’re an essential part of the network of support around children and families – and they need the recognition and resources to keep doing this work.

What a fabulous time we had yesterday morning celebrating Family Resource Program Week with a family breakfast at Archway Family Centre - The Parenting Place!

It was a privilege to gather together, share a meal, connect, and have fun as families, children, and staff celebrated the important work of Family Resource Programs.

A special thank you to Rod Santiago, Chief Executive Officer of Archway Community Services for joining us and providing the land acknowledgement and welcome. Our FRP team is grateful for leadership that not only champions our work and advocates for families, but also takes the time to sit on the carpet, kick off the shoes, and connect with children and families right where they are.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the morning so memorable!

Families today are constantly being asked to do more with less. Less time, less connection, less support – and for many, fewer opportunities where they can simply show up, belong, and be together.

💜 That’s where Family Resource Programs (FRPs) come in.

From October 19-23, we’re celebrating BC’s first-ever Family Resource Program Week. It’s a time to shine the spotlight on the incredible impact that FRPs have on BC children and families.

It’s also a time to advocate for support.

Sustainable funding is an ongoing challenge for Family Resource Programs in BC. Without adequate financial support, it becomes increasingly difficult to purchase essential program supplies, provide nutritious meals and snacks, and maintain the program hours that families rely on.

Family Resource Programs are found in communities across BC. They go by many names, and are found in different places. Ours is know as Archway Family Centre - The Parenting Place.

But no matter what they’re called, or where you find them, Family Resource Programs share one key purpose: connecting families with young children to community and support.
