How do we use art to support people grow?

One year ago Creathon became space for courage, creativity, vulnerability and connection.

A project created to transform limiting beliefs through creation, reflection, and expression.

Happy birthday, Veli! 🎊

Veli, or by her full name Velislava, is one of those people in Creatosphere whose work mostly happens behind the scenes, but without whom many things simply wouldn’t exist.

Veli has contributed greatly to the development of our local project Scenes of Meaning, bringing legislative theatre to Bulgaria, supporting both of its performances as a legal expert, helping us shape not only what happens on stage, but what continues beyond it. She also stood with us in the Act of Change project in Shumen, where legislative theatre meets real civic process, carefully crafting proposals and making sure that the voices in the room could translate into something tangible.

A big part of Creatosphere’s world lives in documents, structures, and legal frameworks, and more often than not, that’s where you’ll find Veli: holding the invisible backbone of what we do, navigating paperwork so that others can create freely, translating the sometimes convoluted words of the law.

And yet, that’s only one side of her.

Veli is also a dancer, a volunteer, and someone who consistently gives more of her time and energy than she asks back. She supports causes, people, and ideas with a quiet generosity that doesn’t need the spotlight to matter.

It remains an open discussion between her and Toni (a.k.a her little sister) which one of them is lucky to have the other as a sibling: from an external point of view, they are quite the duo. Word is there is money placed on the fact that one day there will be a street in Sofia named after them.

Thank you for having our backs... and hearts.
Happy birthday, Veli. ✨

🎶 Song of the Soul | Youth Exchange | Day 10

Even the best songs have to come to an end. Day 10 was the final note of ours. We spent the day getting closure - of our support systems that were our buddies, and our reflection group, and the whole group. We celebrated each other to music and cried more times than possible to count. The place that had become our home is back to its initial state, polished and ready for another story

While the final chord was played, we know the echoes of our songs will continue - in the form of local events, of a methods handbook, of recorded songs. Hopefully it will help somewhere another soul to pick up its melody. We certainly found ours.

🎶 Song of the Soul | Youth Exchange | Day 9

The day has come! Our open day, where we got to share workshops and performances with our neighbors and friends. Oh, what a day! From movement workshops, through practicing saying no, to self-massage, improv theater, barefoot walking, and an arts & crafts corner: all of that culminating in an open stage, featuring a local band, with a moshpit, some improvs, poetry, and so much more!

10 pictures are not enough to tell the story of it all... but we’ll try ✨

🎶 Song of the Soul | Youth Exchange | Day 8

Last day of preparation for the open-doors day! Rehearsals have been going strong - songs are being recorded, workshops piloted, choreographies planned down to the last step.

We've also extended invitations to our neighbours, the inhabitants of Stolat. Some of us went to meet them, exploring the history of the area and its tales. We can't wait to see their reactions to our performances tomorrow, although stage fright turns out to be a thing.

🎶 Song of the Soul | Youth Exchange | Day 7

As our open-doors day is approaching, it is time to focus and embrace the event preparations - what kind of workshops to offer? Who wants to go on the open stage? Some of us need a guitar player, others a vocalist, and others someone else altogether.

This celebration will be about celebrating the songs within each of our souls, with the intention of inviting others to join in the symphony. There will be workshops, open jams, concerts and so much more! We have two days to prepare, and we can't wait to be there!

🎶 Song of the Soul | Youth Exchange | Day 6

This is the day where we pour out our words into MEANING.

What distinguishes a sentence from a verse? How do we put emotions into words? How do we go from “just” writing to meaningful lyrics?

In a Turning Words Into Songs style workshop, we explored automatic writing and played with acronyms, pouring out freely the emotions which were alive in us. Once the process was started, we took our afternoon to explore it even more, beginning to write songs in preparation for the open door happening on Sunday.

Sometimes words arrive slowly. Sometimes they rush out all at once. Day 6 was about giving them space to become something more than thoughts: something that can be shared, sung, and heard, something with meaning.
