The aim of ESTIEM is to establish and foster interrelations among European students of industrial engineering and management. The students incorporate both management and engineering skills. Through involvement in ESTIEM, students get an opportunity to experience different cultures, take part in international projects and make friends all over Europe. Our belief is that the activities and projects of ESTIEM give our members knowledge and experience that are important for their personal development reaching-to-future goals. The students involved in ESTIEM incorporate both the skills required for modern business and an open-minded approach towards other people and culture issues.

⚙️ From April 1st to 5th, ESTIEM LG Sofia hosted a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course at the Technical University of Sofia.

Participants moved beyond university theory to master a methodology used by global industry leaders, successfully earning their certificates for the covered theory. 📜

The 5-day course was led by our incredible instructors, Anamarija Shoshkoska and Tanya Petkova 🙌, who made these complex tools accessible to their peers.

We are grateful to ELFE-TU Sofia and Dean Tasho Tashev for their continued support, which is essential for hosting these high-impact events locally. 🏛️

To our participants: Thank you for the incredible energy! 🎓 You’ve cleared the most rigorous part of the journey. Good luck with your upcoming industry projects, the final step to earning your full certification. We look forward to seeing the impact you’ll make in your respective field! 🚀

🍫🚀 The evolution of a solution

The T.I.M.E.S. Local Qualifications back on 4 December challenged six teams to solve a complex case study provided by Mondelēz International. On 24 February, that journey came full circle as participants, alongside students of TU-Sofia, stepped inside the Svoge Chocolate Factory to see the very processes they analyzed in action.

Thank you to Mondelēz International for opening your doors and showing our engineers what it takes to bring a case study to life! 💚

A look back at the competition highlights:
• The Jury Panel: Expert insights were provided by Vasil Kalenderski (Regional Continuous Improvement Manager, Mondelēz), Dr. Minko Govedarov (Process Engineer, Mondelēz), and Assoc. Prof. Dimcho Dimov (Deputy Dean of Digitalization & Innovation, TU Sofia).
• The Opening: The event was officially launched by Kiril Kirilov, Director of the Svoge Chocolate Factory, and Maria Ivancheva, our VP Finance.
• The Winners: A huge shoutout again to team The Oompa Loompas for their winning solution and presentation! 🏆

🤝On 17.02, Paulo Sá, the Sofia Plant Manager, met with TU-Sofia students to provide an exclusive look into the world of BA Glass: Managing High-Temperature Production 24/7, Sustainability and Their Trainee program.

🏭The Process: We observed how Industry 4.0 and advanced automation are currently transforming one of the world’s oldest manufacturing processes.
🌱Sustainability & ESG Strategy: We explored the sustainability of glass as a 100% recyclable material and dived into the company’s carbon neutrality progress.

На 17 февруари в ТУ-София ESTIEM посреща BA Glass - една от водещите компании в производството на стъклени опаковки в Европа и света.
С над 100-годишна история, 13 завода в Европа и Северна Америка и клиенти в над 70 държави, BA Glass е пример за мащабно, високотехнологично и устойчиво производство.
По време на събитието ще разгледаме:
* как функционират процесите в производството на стъкло
* ролята на автоматизацията за качество и производителност
* защо стъклото остава конкурентен материал в ерата на полимерите
* как се изгражда устойчиво и въглеродно неутрално производство
