Trauma-Informed Approach Training at HRDC
HRDC conducted a two-day Trauma-Informed Approach Training for its staff on 24–25 August 2026, in collaboration with DIGNITY.
The training introduced three key elements of trauma-informed practice:
🔹 3 E’s of Trauma: Event, Experience, and Effect — understanding what happened, how it was experienced, and the lasting impact it may have.
🔹 4 R’s: Realize, Recognize, Respond, and Resist Re-traumatization — guiding us to understand trauma, recognize its effects, respond appropriately, and avoid causing further harm.
🔹 6 Principles: Safety; Trust & Transparency; Peer Support; Collaboration & Mutuality; Empowerment, Voice & Choice; and Cultural, Historical & Gender Responsiveness.
The training strengthened staff understanding and practical skills to create safe, respectful, inclusive, and empowering spaces for the people and communities they work with.
