IMSEN Bangladesh issues this protest statement with deep indignation and extreme concern regarding safety.

We are profoundly pained and shocked by the barbaric mob attack on Professor Dr. Md. Asadur Rahman, Head of the ENT Department at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, based on baseless allegations of medical negligence.

It is impossible for any civilized society or professional environment to tolerate such violent harassment on open streets against a senior physician and educator who has dedicated a long period of his life to human service. This heinous incident is not merely an attack on an individual physician; it is a severe blow to the country's entire healthcare system and human values.

Specific laws and professional bodies exist for proper investigation and trial regarding any medical grievance or unexpected outcome. Taking the law into one's own hands and physically assaulting a senior physician through this "mob culture" is pushing the country's medical community into deep panic and insecurity. If physicians must risk their lives while performing professional duties, the overall public healthcare system is bound to collapse.

Demands from IMSEN Bangladesh :

đŸ’ĸImmediate Legal Action: Identify, arrest, and bring every perpetrator involved in this horrific attack to justice swiftly, ensuring exemplary punishment.

đŸ’ĸGuaranteed Workplace Safety: Strengthen effective and strict legal protections to establish a safe working environment for hospitals and the medical community.

đŸ’ĸEnd to Mob Justice: Law enforcement agencies must adopt a zero-tolerance policy to halt the culture of impunity and illegal mob justice.

IMSEN Bangladesh wishes Professor Dr. Md. Asadur Rahman a speedy recovery and a trial that restores his honor. At the same time, during this critical moment, we extend our heartfelt condolences and unwavering solidarity to him, his family, and the entire medical community of the country.

We study until our eyes burn, missing family dinners, birthdays, and sleep, all for one dream: to save lives. We walk into the hospital every day with hope in our hearts, ready to give everything we have to our patients.

So how are we supposed to heal others when we have to fear for our own survival inside the very wards where we train? 💔

Hearing about the brutal attack on our senior colleagues and fellow doctors at Mugda Medical College & Hospital has left us utterly heartbroken, terrified, and angry. Watching those who sacrifice everything to fight for a patient’s life get beaten in return is a nightmare no medical student should ever have to witness. We are human. We feel the grief of losing a patient, but turning that pain into violence against healthcare workers destroys the very core of medicine.

We cannot—and will not—stand by while our future is stolen by fear. We deserve to learn, work, and save lives without wondering if we will make it home safely at the end of a shift.

We IMSEN Bangladesh family stand fully united with our MuMCian peers . Give us safety, or you leave us with no choice but to lay down our white coats. đŸĨŧ🩸
