And that’s a wrap on the weekend of the 10th and 11th of October, which featured day 1 of our CCC 1st Grade side’s third fixture of the season and round 2 of our Sunday A3N, C1N, and C2N team’s seasons!
In the CCC 1st Grade match, Coorparoo batted first and scored 214, powered by a rapid start from their opening batsman and a strong knock from their captain. Hamish Chapman’s three-wicket bag and economical bowling from both Steven Rees and Fabian Roberts proved the highlight of the innings. Peninsula then batted and faced a fierce Coorparoo bowling unit late in the day, losing 4 wickets and sitting 4-49 at stumps. We look to drive forward and chase down the remaining runs next Saturday.
In the Sunday A3N game, Warlocks batted first and scored 170. Jackson Williams and Dartagnan Crossland shone with 3 wickets a piece. Peninsula then made light work of the chase, scoring 171 with 13 overs to spare. The chase was commanded by a powerful innings from Stephen Adnams (66 off 77) which included 4 fours and 4 sixes.
The Old Boys faced the Waraba Burners at Langdon Park, batting first proved tough as Peninsula were bowled out for 100. Lachlan Duke (30 off 61) led the lower-order fight back after coming in at 6-16. Waraba chased down the total at 7-101.
The President’s XI too faced the Waraba Burners, where they bowled first and limited Waraba to 150. Charlie Cross and Alistair Russ took handy 3-wicket hauls to cap the bowling effort off. Peninsula were bowled out for 118 in the chase. A valiant effort from Charlie Cross (50*) wasn’t enough to finish the chase, it was a testament however to the fine match he had.
The Sunday teams head into the break week before returning in two weeks times, and the CCC 1st Grade continues at 12pm this Saturday.
