Congratulations to this year’s QLD Youth Solidarity Representative Josie Rackley! Josie moved into ILCA 4s this year coming from sailing Optis. She also loves assisting with learn to sail at HumpyBong Yacht Club on her holidays. She is looking forward to meeting and sailing with the Solidarity team from around Australia at nationals at Sandringham Yacht Club!

Bit of a late congratulations to all of our QILCA members who were recognised at the Australian Sailing Queensland Awards this month. ILCA sailors and coaches were finalists in almost all major categories with special congratulations to ILCA 7 National coach Rafa Trujillo, occasional ILCA sailor Brendan Casey and ex-ILCA sailor Kayla Boothby for wins in their respective categories and to Christine Bridge for presenting awards throughout the evening. QILCA finalists listed below:

We want to acknowledge the achievements of former QILCA sailor Tom Needham. This past week Tom was announced as a part of Team Australia’s elite Australian seven-sailor team for the 38th America’s Cup in July of next year. Tom first worked as a hydraulic engineer within SailGP before joining the Bonds Flying Roos SailGP team as a reserve athlete. Exciting to see where sailing ILCAs can take you, congratulations on all your achievements Tom!

Mara Stransky rounds off her international season with a top Australian finish at the ILCA 6 Open Worlds! Across her international regattas Mara had incredible consistency within the whole fleet and amongst the Australians. We look forward to Mara’s performance at regattas back at home in the coming months!

The end of the ILCA 6 Open Worlds marks the end of Frances Beebe’s international season for the year. Frances finished in gold fleet in every regatta, strong consistency at such a high level and ended in her very first race win at the World Championships this past week! Congratulations on all your hard work Frances!

Congratulations Isaac on a solid international season competing at the highest level as part of the AS Squad! Isaac wrapped up his international season with a gold fleet finish (45th) at the ILCA 7 World Championships. Before the worlds he finished 66th at the ILCA European Championships in Croatia and 25th at the San Pedro Olympic Classes Regatta. We look forward to seeing you continue climbing the results table as the Australia season begins!
