Henzell Street Quilters Inc

Henzell Street Quilters Inc We are a quilting group in Redcliffe, Brisbane. The group was started in 1984 and we are still going strong. We welcome new members.

We meet every Monday morning and Tuesday evening at Peninsula Presbyterian Church Hall on the cnr of Hawthorne St and Ellen St, Woody Point, on the Redcliffe Peninsula. We are a very active quilt group, having celebrated our 35 year anniversary in March, 2019. During these 35 years we have made many quilts to support other charity groups within our community and the wider Queensland to assist the

m in their work. Our group also gains pleasure in ongoing support to a nursing home by making Christmas gifts for the residents and quilts to brighten up their rooms, and also Encircle who work with the less privileged in our community. We hold a bi-annual quilt show and participate in a bi-annual curated exhibition in the Redcliffe Art Gallery. These occasions enable us to share our enjoyment of quilting with the community and demonstrate our skills. These are just some of the things we are involved in. We have workshops, bus trips, and retreats as well! We invite you to visit us to see if we are what you’ve looking for, and if so, apply to join.

In 2024, 6 intrepid HSQ members travelled to Noonkanbah Station in the Central Kimberley region of WA, hosted by Christine Berberich who was principal of the remote community school. They had a unique experience sewing with the local ladies and adventures in the 4WD school bus. Boab Hill was the inspiration for these creations.
