Growing up in a developing country like Nigeria, having a very humble background, we knew how it

felt like seeing other kids go to school, why you are not, due to lack of funds for academic bills, neighborhoods of single mothers and widows suffering with their fatherless children due to rejection and abandonment by family and society. In the midst of all these harrowing expressions, one was privilege to travel out of the country to Australia, where light and fortune came. I settled in, and raising a family, came up with the challenge of having one of our children as a sickle cell carrier, owing to the fact that my wife and I both have the hemoglobin “S” traits. Upon discovery of this fact, initially it was a nightmare, picturing how sickle cell carriers suffer back in Africa and other parts of the world, with little or no assistant from the government, stigmatization by society, neglect and even eventual abandonment by families due to lack of funds to cater for their constant medical bills and needs. I thought that was what we would face for the rest of our lives. But surprisingly, the Australian system was different, from the government taking responsibility, support from all and sundry and quality medical care accessed. To this end, we thought it wise to replicate the same gesture back home, in Africa, Asia, Europe, America and around the world, to reduce the financial burden of those having sickle cell anemia, and create an environment where they feel loved and belong in a larger society and cared for. Using the instrumentality of awareness, advocacy and support mobilization to reduce the scale of sickle cell anemia and support the needy in our society. Our earnest expectation is that every well-meaning individual should join hands with this foundation to give a better life to these sets of people in our society all over the world, especially in developing countries like Africa.
