Today, Cooinda Retreats came alive with the Fleurieu Youth Climate Summit 2026, and for Toc H South Australia, this is the vision our members hold so proudly.

A place where community gathers, ideas are exchanged, volunteers contribute, partnerships form, and people come together with shared interest, energy and purpose.

The Summit reflected so much of what Toc H South Australia believes in, active citizenship, community service, environmental responsibility, advocacy, learning and connection.

It was inspiring to see Cooinda Retreats being used in such a practical and meaningful way, supporting conversations and action that matter to the Fleurieu community and beyond.

This is community in motion.

Toc H South Australia is proud to share that Cooinda Retreats will host the 2026 Fleurieu Youth Climate Summit on 4 June.

This is more than passive involvement. Through Cooinda Retreats, Toc H SA is pleased to support the Summit as a sponsor, venue host and guest presenter.

With more than 110 participants expected this year, the Summit strongly reflects our vision for Cooinda as a future community centre and village, a place where young people, community partners, educators and local leaders can come together to learn, connect and respond to the issues that matter.

We will also be presenting on food waste management, set against the broader backdrop of climate strategy and practical environmental action.

We look forward to welcoming students, teachers, facilitators and community leaders from across the Fleurieu Peninsula.

🌿 The Fleurieu Youth Climate Summit is almost here! 🌿

On Thursday 4 June, students from across the Fleurieu Peninsula will come together at Cooinda Retreats for a day of learning, collaboration, leadership and climate action.

Now in its fifth year, the Summit creates opportunities for young people to share ideas, explore practical solutions, connect with peers, and be inspired by guest speakers and facilitators from across the region.

We are proud to be hosting and sponsoring this important event and look forward to welcoming the next generation of changemakers to Cooinda Retreats.

It was wonderful to welcome Lou Nicholson Fleurieu Peninsula our new State Member for Finniss, to Toc H South Australia’s Cooinda Retreats today.

Adam and Beck had the opportunity to walk Lou through the site and share more about our emerging community centre village concept, which focuses on wellbeing, inclusion, connection and practical community support across the Southern Fleurieu.

We also appreciated the chance to discuss the importance of school camps and the Government’s commitment in this area, particularly around access, affordability and the role community-based providers can play.

Thank you Lou for taking the time to visit, listen and understand the work we are doing at Toc H South Australia and Cooinda Retreats.

🌟 A Proud Moment for Toc H South Australia 🌟

Cooinda Retreats has been recognised by Hipcamp as a Star Host.

For Toc H South Australia Incorporated, this means far more than a badge.

Since 1938, Toc H South Australia has held and cared for this site as a community asset. Through camps, programs, and now community stays, it has always been a place where connection happens.

For many of our guests, staying at Cooinda Retreats is their first encounter with Toc H. They arrive for the view, the grass, the quiet, the coastal air — and along the way they begin to hear the story. Through our messages. Through our signage. Through conversations. Through the spirit of the place.

They lean in.
They ask questions.
They share stories.

And often, those stories include a grandfather who attended a camp. A school memory. A family connection. A moment from years ago.

For others, it is the first time they’ve ever heard the name Toc H.

In both cases, something beautiful happens.

Staying here becomes more than a booking. It becomes a quiet way of reconnecting with a South Australian legacy — or discovering it for the first time.

Many guests tell us they choose Cooinda because it is community-owned. Because it isn’t a large commercial park. Because staying here feels like paying it forward.

That matters to us.

The hundreds and hundreds of reviews, recommendations, and messages we receive are not just feedback about a campsite. They are reflections of people who feel part of something.

This Star Host recognition reflects that connection.

It reflects the care of our volunteer caretakers, the stewardship of our members, and the generosity of guests who choose to support a site held in trust for community since 1938.

We are proud that Cooinda Retreats is one of the ways Toc H South Australia continues to connect, to serve, and to keep its story alive.

To every guest who has stayed, shared, returned, or told someone else — thank you.

You are part of the continuing story.

🌟 We’re Proud to Be Recognised as a Hipcamp Star Host 🌟

We’re delighted to share that Cooinda Retreats has achieved Hipcamp Star Host Status.

Hipcamp recognises Star Hosts because they:

• Are highly responsive
• Support guests from booking through to departure
• Provide consistently great experiences

We’re genuinely grateful for this recognition — but the truth is, this award belongs to you.

To every guest who has chosen to stay with us.
To every kind review left.
To every return visit.
To every wonderful volunteer caretaker who has welcomed, mowed, cleaned, fixed, greeted and quietly kept things humming over the years.

This is for you.

Running Cooinda Retreats’ camp stays is about more than providing a great place to camp. For many of our guests, staying here is a way of paying it forward.

Every booking supports a community-owned site that has been held and maintained by Toc H South Australia since 1938. It’s a legacy of service, community and connection — and every stay helps keep that story going.

We’re proud.
We’re grateful.
And we’ll keep doing what we do — welcoming you well and keeping the grass ready for your return.

Thank you for being part of it. 🌿

This is a great snapshot of the kind of grassroots, community focused activity happening right now through Toc H South Australia.

Hosting organisations like the South Adelaide Football Club is not just about accommodation or logistics. It’s about creating space for connection, wellbeing, leadership, and community building at a local level.

As we continue to look to the future, these are exactly the kinds of real world, community centred experiences that show what is possible when Toc H is active, visible, and embedded where it matters most.

We were delighted to welcome Nat Cook, Minister for Human Services, to Cooinda Retreats this weekend for a great conversation about community, connection, and what’s possible here on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Cooinda Retreats is a Toc H South Australia initiative, and it was a pleasure to share how the site is growing as a Community Centre Village, shaped by Toc H’s long tradition of welcome, service, and bringing people together.

It was especially lovely to hear the Minister reflect on her own past visits to Cooinda many years ago, a reminder of just how deeply Toc H is woven into community life here.

Want to know more about the visit, what’s happening across Toc H South Australia, or what’s coming next?

This is a post we’re proud to share.

What you’re seeing at Cooinda Retreats is not just a successful RV Park season. It’s a living expression of Toc H values in action.

For nearly 87 years, Toc H South Australia has maintained and protected this site, not as an asset to be closed off, but as a place to be opened up. Since 1938, this land has existed for community, service, hospitality, and human connection, quietly and faithfully.

Today, hundreds upon hundreds of people are walking through the gates of Cooinda Retreats. Many of them are encountering Toc H for the very first time. They’re learning, often unexpectedly, that this beautiful place exists because of a long-standing commitment to service, volunteering, and shared responsibility.

That matters.

It matters that people experience Toc H not as an abstract idea, but as a lived reality. A welcoming space. A well-kept site. A community supported by volunteers. A model that proves values still work when they’re practiced, not just spoken about.

We’re deeply grateful to our volunteer caretakers, past and present, and especially to Mel and Guy, who currently represent the very best of Toc H spirit through their care, generosity, and presence.

This is Toc H being Toc H.
And it’s something to be genuinely proud of.
