92 and still going strong. Esther Rosewall, who is Australian, first joined Lions Club International while living in the USA. She joined as a member of the Mammoth Lakes Lions Club, District 4 – L1 (Siera Region) in November 1995. On returning to Australia, she joined the Torquay Lions Club in April 2003. She became the first lady President in 2010 – 11 and has been an active member there for 23 ½ years. Together with her time at Mammoth Lakes, that’s over 30 years of community service through Lions. And she’s still going! Esther lives at the Lions Village Torquay, a 29-unit retirement village, operated as a not-for-profit project initiated by the Lions Club of Torquay. If you would like to get the satisfaction of serving your local community, we are always looking for new members.

Waste not, want not! We were busy delivering food for Feed Me Surf Coast for those in need. The food is provided by local supermarkets; it was otherwise destined to end up in landfill. We estimate that we help prevent 1½ to 2 tons of produce going to the tip every week. The environment is a key focus for Lions and with this project, we can have an impact. We’ve been helping since 2020.

A foggy start! Sari-Elle Kraemer, President of the Coogee Lions Club, set off on her second of 7 marathons this morning. She was at Point Impossible, Torquay, Victoria, at 7.30 am in foggy conditions. Sari-Elle will finish her seventh marathon when she runs into the 74th MD Lions Convention 2026 in Adelaide, SA, on May 22nd. She will be leaving from Warrnambool tomorrow. 🏃‍♀️🐾 7 MARATHONS IN 7 DAYS – MELBOURNE TO ADELAIDE 🐾🏃‍♀️

This May 18–24, board member and dedicated Lion Sari-Elle is taking on an incredible endurance challenge: 7 marathons in 7 days, running all the way from Melbourne to Adelaide, finishing at the Lions National Convention.

Along the journey, she’ll be stopping in to connect with communities and raise awareness for the life-changing work of Lions Assistance Dogs — and the incredible assistance dogs that support Australians every day.

The goal is to raise $70,000 to support our dogs — and every kilometre Sari-Elle runs is helping get there. 🧡

Last Cowrie. An extra Torquay Cowrie Market was held yesterday, and despite heavy rain overnight, it was a pleasant day at Elephant Walk. Our Lion’s Train was busy, and avoided getting bogged. The kids (and the adults) enjoyed the ride!
