Training Night – Road Crash Rescue (RCR) 🚒

On Monday night, our members continued developing their Road Crash Rescue (RCR) skills, with the focus on patient disentanglement from a trapped vehicle.

The session covered safe and methodical techniques to create access while maintaining patient care and scene safety throughout the rescue. These are highly perishable skills that require regular training, teamwork, and clear communication to ensure we're ready when the community needs us.

It was great to see members of all experience levels working together, with our more experienced firefighters sharing their knowledge and mentoring newer members throughout the evening.

A big thank you to our mates at Tom Price Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade for providing the location as well as everyone who attended and helped make another valuable training night possible. Every session strengthens our capability and preparedness to respond when it matters most.

A big thanks also to the hospital construction team next door for simulating a violent crash for us, with some heavy machinery imparting some rapid vehicle modification’s

🚒 Cooler Weather Training Night 🚒

Last night our members got stuck into the fundamentals of Road Crash Rescue (RCR), working through the first stages of the rescue sequence and focusing on getting the basics right. Building these foundations now will set us up well as we progress into more complex rescue scenarios over the coming weeks.

It was also the first taste of rescue training for two of our probationary members. Thankfully they were surrounded by plenty of experienced members and officers who were more than happy to pass on their knowledge and help them get hands-on with the equipment and techniques.

A big thank you to St John WA - Tom Price and Paraburdoo for coming down and getting involved in the training. It was great to share perspectives, learn from each other, and continue building the strong working relationships that are so important when we meet at incidents.

We’d also like to give a big shout-out to our Tom Price Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade brothers and sisters for once again making their facility available for training and joining in on the night. These opportunities to train together help build familiarity, teamwork, and confidence across agencies.

Well done to everyone who attended and contributed to another successful training night

Please be aware, tonight we will be setting off the fire station siren in respect for International Firefighters day

International Firefighters' Day (IFFD) is observed annually on May 4th to honor the dedication, courage, and sacrifices of firefighters worldwide. It coincides with St. Florian’s Day, the patron saint of firefighters. The day promotes acknowledging both volunteer and career firefighters who protect communities

🚨 TOM PRICE SIREN TESTING UPDATE 🚨
As part of our ongoing commitment to maximum readiness, Tom Price VFRS will now be testing the town siren at alternating times for dayshift and nightshift.

🔁 These testing windows will constantly change to ensure our crews (and the community) remain alert, adaptive, and slightly confused.

👉 Please only be alarmed if the siren sounds outside the current testing window — noting that the testing window may have moved since the last time you checked it.

✅ This new approach guarantees peak preparedness at all times.
✅ And absolutely zero predictability.

Thank you for your continued understanding and vigilance.
