The Men's Shed had their first social night on Saturday.
Cheers to everyone that came down to enjoy the BBQ and fire pit.

Massive shout out to Pilbara Food Services for donating the BBQ feed.

The Community HUB - consisting of the Men's Shed, Community Garden and Arts & Cultural Centre - is all about bringing people together to engage in the activities they enjoy, whether it's honing trade skills, nurturing veggies and flowers, or stretching and strengthening your mind and body.

None of it is really possible without the support of our members and that of companies like FMG, who supported this year's Open Day with a communities grant. Best of all, when our visiting artist's costs (flights!) blew the original budget, FMG stepped up and covered the gap, which we were really grateful for.

After years of running on a noisy, fuel-hungry generator, this past Saturday morning we had a few reps out from the Shed and our neighbours on Lot 867 - Tom Price Community Garden. and the Tom Price Community Arts & Cultural Centre HUB - to celebrate our recent connection to the grid.

This is a genuine game changer for us at the Shed and wouldn't have been possible without the generous support of Rio Tinto (who also co-sponsored the lovely hoist you see in the background here, along with Levanta) and the professionally executed work of the crew at Bennco Group, who have been alongside since the beginning.

The second photo shows a candid moment of joy when someone flicked on the light switch during our president Paul's thank-you speech. Simple things like being able to flick on those lights, leave cold water or lunch in the fridge, and get straight to business without having to make a fuel run, won't be taken for granted by those of us who've been around since the early days.
