Update on the Tom Price Community Markets. As the event organiser, I found that stall attendance dropped significantly throughout last year. We live in a very transient town and with that stall numbers rise and fall. I also found that some of those who booked in were cancelling or just not turning up (some cancellations cannot be helped)
If we do not have a fair number of stalls, it is just not a viable event to run.
Our market insurance drastically increased so although i had found sponsorship for the public liability cover I was then having to pay an extra insurance fee per stall PLUS the Shires trading permit fees. While this was reduced, thank you Shire of Ashburton, it was still another fee that was payable by each stall and the $30 fee was just covering this.
As many of you are aware, I also volunteer to coordinate the Tom Price Drive In Cinema and the Jarndunmunha Festival (alongside wonderful committees) and this year i felt something had to give as I am lacking time! All of the above lead to my decision to not run the markets this year however all stall holders were welcome at the festival.
In saying all this, I will try to coordinate with other events planned in town to produce some form of Christmas market so please watch this page for any updates.
I am hoping that stall holders will come forward and register interest so that I can see how many we would potentially have in town keen to attend. Just pop a message below if you would like to join us please π
Thanks for your patience this year, lets see what I can come up with going forward.
