The VSSOC is one of the highlights in the Victorian Orienteering calendar and an important development event for our sport. The event will be held on Friday 22nd May at Westerfolds Park, though the courses will primarily traverse the Candlebark Park map to the east. The terrain has a network of walking and biking trails and mostly open forest enabling courses suitable for beginners and also challenging the experienced students.

Reminder for students, parents and teachers to enter the events ASAP. The event is one of the key selection events for students wanting to represent Victoria at the Australian Secondary Schools Orienteering Championships in ACT in late September. All information can be found on Eventor here

Bendigo Bush 5 - Kalimna Park

Come along and enjoy the competition, the outdoor environment and Castlemaine’s great orienteering terrain! The start location is only a few kms from Castlemaine Train Station, a great opportunity to take advantage of free public transport and warm up on the way to the event.

Terrain is open bushland with erosion gullies, old gold mining and many tracks, moderate to steep hills on longer courses which course 3 avoids. There is an extra course for newcomers to enjoy a longer trail course of 4.2km (Course 6). Bring some cake to share and chat about your splits afterwards inside the Clay Pigeon Shooting Club.
