Introducing Wally the Wombat as one of our fun mascots for the Lions Green Canopy Environment Project. We hope you love Wally as much as we do and share his escapades with your friends. Keep watching as we introduce some of Wally's friends and some of his fun activities planting trees in the future. Wombats love trees because they provide essential resources for their survival: structural support for their underground burrows, shade from the harsh sun, and a source of tough bark to wear down their continuously growing teeth. They also love to rub their scent on fallen logs and trees to mark their territory.

Alongside his brother, 'Rex' officially began his new role last week also as a Psychiatric Assistance Dog. 🧡

Thank you to the Millicent Lions Club for sponsoring Rex’s journey through our Puppy and Training Programs. Your support has played an essential role in his success - we hope you’ve loved following Rex's journey! 🐾

A big thank you to Eric and then Maxine and Paul for the wonderful job they did raising Rex into a confident and loving pup. The care and guidance you all provided gave him the perfect start on his journey to becoming a life-changing companion. 💙

Rex was also apart of our Bed and Breakfast program where he spent nights and weekends with Claudia. For four days a week, she would drop Rex off at ‘school’ and pick him up in the afternoons – giving Rex a loving home whilst he was in training.🏡

Another amazing partnership 🧡

Another wonderful story!

Another wonderful story!

It’s been another busy week at Lions Assistance Dogs, with two more Assistance Dog placements last week! 🎉

First up is Border Terrier 'Clive' who has officially begun his new role as a Psychiatric Assistance Dog 🐶

Clive was proudly sponsored and named by the Rochedale Springwood Lions Club, We hope they enjoyed following his journey, and we are so grateful for their generous support 🙏🦁

A big thank you to Meg and Denis who lovingly raised Clive from an eight-week-old puppy to the amazing Assistance Dog he is today. They gave him the love, guidance, commitment, and care he needed to thrive in his full time training. We thank them sincerely for their dedication 💙

We’d also like to acknowledge his Bed and Breakfast carer, Dot, who supported Clive during training. She welcomed him into her home, and dropped him off at school four days a week, giving him consistency, love, and care throughout his training journey. 🥰

Kootingal lions club has the same principles expressed here.

A lot of people say they don’t want to join a volunteer organisation for a variety of reasons. One of the main concerns we hear is that people don’t have the time, or they don’t want to miss out on special events because they feel they have to commit to club activities during those times.

At the Bingara Lions Club, we completely understand that family and personal commitments come first. We would never expect someone to miss an important event just to help cook a barbecue or attend a working bee.

You decide when you can offer your time — with no pressure and no judgement. If you choose to help out, you can let us know when you’re available and how long you can assist for. We often work with rosters so everyone can enjoy events like the Orange Festival while still lending a hand where needed.

If you would like to join our wonderful club, or simply learn more about what we do, send us a message on Facebook or have a chat with one of our members. Helping your community really is a rewarding experience.

This could be an interesting day for us to celebrate!
