Jacques-Désiré Laval (18 September 1803 – 9 September 1864) is known as the "Apostle of Mauritius" due to his tireless work in aiding the poor and ill in Mauritius. This shrine dedicated to Pere Laval - "The Apostle of Mauritius" was built in 1995 following the gift of land received by the Mauritian community from The Pauline Brothers.

🙏 Join us tomorrow, Saturday 24 October 2026, for the Blessing & Inauguration of the newly renovated Chapel of Père Laval at the Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy, Penrose Park, Sutton Forest.

⛪ Holy Mass at 11:00 am, followed by a procession and the blessing of the chapel.

🚨 After planning to keep this as a surprise for the blessing day , so many people have been asking how it’s going and whether it’s finished , so here’s your first look at the final 2026 Père Laval Shrine Sydney. ❤️💙💛💚

There are still a few minor touches to be done, but after a full year of weekends, hard work, and dedication, we can finally stand back and be truly proud of what we’ve managed to complete within the time we had.

Blessing date will be confirmed soon, with the aim for the end of October if everything goes to plan. 🙏

🚨 Update 🚨 ❤️💙💛💚

We have been relatively quiet on social media lately, but that does not mean progress has not been ongoing behind the scenes with the feature wall almost complete and today we finished the railing. Here is one of the last updates prior to the unveiling, which will be just in time for his feast day in September 🙏

🚨 It has been a slow start of 2026 with the festive period, but today we managed to complete the front glass paneling 😍 this part of the project definitely got us excited to finally see a finish line to all our hard work 🥰 We almost there family!!!!
