Oxford Street is coming back to life!
Today, the Australian Financial Review highlighted the renewed optimism around Oxford Street’s future, including comments from PBA President Jarrod Lomas on what this precinct means to our community.
For the PBA, Oxford Street has always been both a place of business and a cultural home. It is venues, shops and nightlife, as well as community, history, creativity and connection for generations of LGBTQIA+ people, organisations, workers, visitors and allies.
After years of disruption, delays and uncertainty, there is now a real opportunity to support its next chapter. That means backing local businesses, filling venues, showing up for events, investing in the rainbow economy, and making sure Oxford Street’s future reflects the community that made it iconic in the first place.
We are cautiously optimistic, and we are ready to help build what comes next.
This Pride Month, make a plan to visit Oxford Street, support LGBTQIA+ businesses and venues, and be part of its revival.
