From 2 September 2026 all new members and site-registrations will receive our gorgeous new sticker.

Trans Day of Visibility – or sometimes relabelled Trans Day of Action – began in 2009 as a way to celebrate positive representations of trans people and their achievements.

As the holiday season approaches, we want to inform you of our holiday closure schedule at Welcome Here - ACON and to provide you with important information about our operating hours during this period.

Please take note of our closure dates:

We will be closed from the 12th of December 2024 to the 06th of January 2025 for the Christmas holiday.

During this period our operations will be temporarily inactive, and our services will resume from the 06th of January 2025. This means that new member registrations and merchandise orders placed in December 2024 will be processed upon our return and we cannot guarantee that you will receive your physical Welcome Here kit before the beginning of February 2024. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

As the year comes to a close, we want to express our sincere gratitude for allowing us to be a part of the strategy of your organisation to welcome and celebrate our LGBTQ+ communities. It has been our honour to work with you, and we look forward to continuing to support you in the new year.

Today is Trans Day of Remembrance.

Trans Day of Remembrance is a day to honour and remember the trans people whose lives have been lost to acts of anti-trans violence and, increasingly, to remember those who have died from su***de. It’s a vital day of reflection for our communities.

The Fuelling Hate report by the Trans Justice Project and Victorian Pride Lobby revealed that one in ten trans Australians have experienced violence in the past year. This statistic paints a grim local picture of the broader global crisis faced by trans and gender diverse people.

Globally, the Trans Murder Monitoring Project, an invaluable initiative of Transgender Europe, recorded one of the highest death tolls since its launch in 2008, with 350 reported murders between September 2023 and November 2024. Most victims were Black and trans women of colour and trans s*x workers.

This devastating rise underscores the urgent need for action, solidarity, and policies that uphold trans people’s dignity and safety. Vigils will be held across NSW to honour trans and gender diverse people lost too soon. Join us in Sydney at the Lower East Community & Arts Centre at 6 PM.
