At the heart of peer-led support is something simple but powerful: connection with people who understand.

Malyn and Lexie bring lived experience to how they connect with and support our community. Our trauma-informed, peer-led approach is about creating a space where you can feel heard, respected and supported, without judgement or pressure.

It means meeting you where you’re at. Respecting your choices. Building trust at your pace. And having someone alongside you who understands that everyone’s experience is different.

Because sometimes support feels different when it starts with “I understand” rather than “I know what’s best for you.”

Thank you ACON Regional Rainbow Forum!

Our Can We team travelled to Wagga Wagga to connect with community organisations, service providers, and health organisations across regional NSW.

Speaking with fellow changemakers was vital for us to exchange ideas to create safer and more inclusive services for LGBTQ+ communities. This includes building connections with partners to raise awareness of inclusive cancer screening and care in regional NSW.

We shared a bunch of our resources on cancer screening and prevention, including:

💄 10 lipglosses promoting cervical screening self-collection

💩 10 poo emoji plush toys promoting bowel screening

🌈 50+ posters on our Own It cervical screening campaign focused on our LGBTQ+ and CALD communities.

Travelling to regional communities and engaging with local services is a key part of our outreach activities at Can We: supporting equitable access to cancer screening and information.

Thank you to the ACON Regional Outreach team for having us, and everyone who took time to connect with us!

We look forward to our continued work together to advance inclusive cancer screening information across NSW.
