It takes many wonderful people to build the community within the centre at the YMCA Springfield Central Community Centre ✨

Today, we would like to do a public shout-out and say thank you to the incredible Megan from the Packed With Care Foundation . This month, Megan dropped by the Y to drop off a large donation of free lunch packs (and other lunch items) for local young people, all of which will be distributed over the coming weeks 🥨🍿

Packed With Care Foundation is a local non-profit organisation focused on the social and emotional wellbeing of women, children, and local communities. They provide a range of supports including wellbeing initiatives, crisis support packs, school lunch packs, education support, community partnerships, and more.

Megan has been a long-term partner of YMCA Queensland and our two Springfield centres, having also delivered a number of community initiatives at our sister-venue YMCA Springfield Lakes Community Centre in recent years.

Watch this space for more collaboration with Packed With Care Foundation over the coming months. In the meantime, if you would like to support the incredible work of the Packed With Care Foundation , you can reach out via [email protected]

Today, we would like to do a public shoutout to our incredible YMCA Queensland colleagues from the YMCA Schools' Breakfast Program, and specifically, our delivery driver Cliff.

Each fortnight, Cliff deliver's a fortnight's worth of supplies for our daily breakfast program hosted at the Y (in partnership with Springfield Central State High School). This includes bread, crumpets, fresh milk, milo, cereal, margarine, spreads, fruit etc. The end result, up to 150 local young people accessing a free breakfast each day, or 750 young people accessing a free breakfast each week, or 30,000 healthy free breakfasts served each year.

Outside of Springfield Central, on any given day the YMCA Schools' Breakfast Program provides over 44,000+ young people with a healthy breakfast across more than 430 schools/sites in South East Queensland. It's quite the operation when you break it down!

For the YMCA Springfield Central Community Centre, the daily free breakfast program is about so much more than a free breakfast. It's a positive start to the day. It's part of the daily routine. Irrespective of what's happening in a young person's life, each morning young people can arrive at the Y, receive a friendly greeting, a check-in, a free healthy breakfast, and some music in the background.

On behalf of the Y and Springfield Central State High School, we would like to say a huge thank you to the YMCA Schools' Breakfast Program for all of your hard work and efforts! It's a pleasure to have you on board as a valued part of our team.

It takes many people to run the YMCA Springfield Central Community Centre, many of whom work tirelessly behind the scenes, day and night, to maintain a quality facility for our community.

Today, we would like to do a public shoutout to Chantelle and Rachel from Springfield-based business, Dust and Shine Domestic Cleaning Services, who form part of our valued cleaning team at the Y.

Multiple nights each week, Chantelle and Rachel are going through the Community Centre, room to room, completing various tasks including dusting, wiping down surfaces, vacuuming all rooms, mopping floors, cleaning glass surfaces, cleaning toilets and bathrooms, topping up supplies, taking out rubbish, and ensuring the centre is ready to host the community on the following day.

On behalf of the Y and all community users, we would like to say a huge thank you for all of your hard work and efforts! It's a pleasure to have you on board as a valued part of our team.
