It’s been a fun-filled week at playgroup! We loved our visit from the Ipswich Library’s ‘First 5 Forever’ program, where the children enjoyed stories and action filled songs.

We also had a visit from Shah, our school’s therapy dog, who was a big hit with the kids! To top it off the children had a great time making slime and creating their own fun Lion masks.

Our playgroup kids loved receiving their free book this week and made a cute Wombat habitat to go with the story.

Staines Memorial College playgroup was proud to launch SMC Storytime. We are so thankful that the school is gifting free books playgroup families to help build a love of reading from an early age.

Reading with your child, sharing stories, and building that habit early makes a real difference. This is an investment in our Community.

Our free Playgroups are on Tuesday and Thursday week 2-8 every school term from 8.30-11am.

We are looking for volunteers to sit with adult learners and assist them during our Citizenship and English classes.

Class times:

Citizenship Class: Mondays, 9:00am–12:00pm
English Class: Wednesdays, 9:00am–12:00pm

Welcome Back to our Community Hub for term 2, 2026. All programs start next week Monday the 27th of April.

Our program is the same as last term except for the introduction of 'Circle of Security' our 8 week parenting course on Wednesdays, 10.30am-12.30pm.

This term on Wednesdays our Community Hub we will be running an 8 week parenting course called ‘Circle of Security’ This is one of the most popular courses for parents with young children particularly 0-9 years.

On Monday we had an amazing Cultural Cooking day, learning how to cook food from India, Ghana and Congo.

It was lovely sharing in both food and conversation and learning about each other’s cultures.
