2nd Turramurra Scout Group

2nd Turramurra Scout Group 2nd Turramurra Scout Group invites children and young people from Kindy to
Year 12 to try Scouting.

Scouts provides opportunities for kids to explore the world
around them and build confidence and resilience through challenging themselves. WHO is it for
Joeys (girls and boys) 5 to 7 years
Cubs (boys and girls) 8 to 10 years
Scouts (boys and girls) 11 to 14 years
Venturers (girls and boys) 15 to 17 years
(year ranges are inclusive)

WHAT
When we say ‘adventure’, we’re not just talking about the

awesome range of outdoor activities that Scouts offers! In fact, ‘adventure’ can mean any exciting, novel or unusual experience, and Scouts offers such a huge range of opportunities that there’s always something new to try. Scouts are separated into age-based Sections, with each Section taking more responsibility for their own activities as they progress. Once Scouts reach 15 years they can join Venturers, see website for more details. (The Commencement for advancement in Sections has a 12 month cross over for individual preference). All Sections share a steady diet of self-respect, confidence, leadership, teamwork, creativity, environmental awareness and community involvement, and there are plenty of events and activities in which everyone can get involved together. Scouts couldn’t provide such amazing experiences for young people without a huge group of dedicated and enthusiastic adult volunteers. If you’re aged 18 or over, why not contact your local Group and find out how you can rediscover adventure too? It doesn’t matter if you’ve never been a Scout… we’ll teach you everything you need to know! DO YOUR BEST - All Cubs and Scouts are good at and enjoy different things, but everyone gets to have a go at all the activities and you can earn heaps of cool badges to sew on your Cub or Scout uniform. If you are passing the 2nd Turramurra Scout hall over the next two /three weeks you will notice some building works with temporary fencing and scaffolding in place. We are getting some fascia boards and eaves fixed and replaced.
So don’t worry this has nothing to do with the Sydney Water project 😉.

2nd Turramurra Scout Group are seeking local support to oppose one of the areas in the attached Sydney Water proposal. The grassed area between Tamboon Avenue and Kate Street has been used by our Scout group and the wider community for over 50 years.

This proposal would significantly impact our ability to deliver meaningful activities for our 80+ youth members. It also raises serious concerns, including increased truck traffic through narrow local streets, potential damage to road surfaces, drainage issues affecting the Scout hall, environmental impacts, staff parking pressures, noise, and the loss of an important community space.

For these reasons, the 2nd Turramurra Scout Group strongly believes this proposal should be rejected in favour of a more suitable alternative.

If you share our concerns, please consider making a submission before the closing date of 20 April 2026.

It’s been a busy week at 2nd Turramurra Scout Group. Our Joeys and Cubs went to Bobbin Head for a spot of fishing, with our budding anglers hauling in a diverse range of aquatic dwellers. Scouts went on a 5km night hike through the local bush, practicing their night time navigation skills. Venturers had a culinary night making delish sausage rolls.
On Sunday our Scouts went to Manly Dam to practice their raft building skills, which was followed by some intensive canoeing including rescue practice, followed by a well-deserved swim.

“There’s always something happening at 2nd Turramurra Scout Group”

We have space in our Joeys and Venturer sections at the moment, so sign up for a four week trial.

2nd Turramurra Scout Group wrapped up 2025 in true Scouting style — with our much-loved BBQ and Iceblocking extravaganza! It was the perfect way to celebrate an action-packed year where our Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers threw themselves into adventure after adventure.
From camping under the stars, paddling across calm waterways, and conquering hiking trails, to earning a fantastic range of badges and awards — our youth members have challenged themselves, grown together, and achieved incredible things.
And we’re not slowing down! Plans for an exciting, adventure-filled 2026 are already underway.
We currently have openings in our Joey and Venturer sections, and we’d love to welcome new families into our Scouting community.

Today seven of our older cubs completed a six hour bushwalk, completing an important progression in their Outdoor Adventure Skills Stage 3 Bushwalking badge.
As part of this Theo and Isaac completed their Adventurous Journey which is an important component of the Grey Wolf Award which is the Cub Scout Peak Award.
Everyone had fun discovering a part of the Great North Walk we don’t usually walk through.

A small update because some of our Venturers joined the Sydney North Rockcraft team at Bungonia Caves for a weekend of caving.

🚨 Action-Packed Adventure at the Emergency Services Expo! 🚨
Our 2nd Turramurra Joeys and Cub Scouts had an unforgettable day out at the Emergency Services Expo at Castle Hill Showground! 🌟

From the moment we arrived, it was non-stop excitement — the highlight? Watching the Westpac Surf Life Saving helicopter land right in front of us! 🚁💨

The Scouts got to:
🪖 Try on real Defence Force gear
🚔 Sit in police cars and even experience getting handcuffed (don’t worry, it was just for fun!)
🐾 Pat the amazing VRA rescue dogs and use the jaws of life
🚤 Learn about NSW Maritime and water safety
🔥 Climb aboard fire trucks, ambulances and meet the heroes behind the uniforms
🫡 Ask questions, explore, and get hands-on with the people who protect our community.

A huge THANK YOU to all the emergency services and volunteers who made this day so special. It’s days like these that inspire the next generation of helpers, leaders, and adventurers. 👏
