On behalf of the Bishop, clergy, and people of the Diocese of Wangaratta, we extend our heartfelt prayers to Dr Helen Haines MP as she receives treatment for her injuries, and we pray for a full and speedy recovery. As noted by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese: "There's a reason why Helen Haines is so loved and admired because she's someone of integrity. She's someone who treats everyone with respect. And she's someone who is a beacon of light for that community there in northern Victoria."

Bridget and Lydia from Micah Projects attended the Out From The Mist 2026 awards night last week and recognised the importance of creativity and art as powerful tools for healing, self-expression, and supporting mental health.

⭐ Congratulations to the award winners, with special mention to Bridget Murray, recipient of the Micah Projects Community Connection Award for her photograph, 'Crawling to Heaven'.

Art can give people a way to process and share their lived experiences, create a sense of connection and belonging, and help break down stigma by allowing others to see and understand different perspectives.

This Community Connection Award specifically celebrates work that explores connection, belonging and the role of community in mental health - something we are deeply committed to as we walk alongside people facing some of the hardest times in their lives.

For almost a decade, we’ve seen Annette’s relentless drive to lift people up: with good food, welcoming spaces, training, support, and community connection.

She leads Micah Projects’ Hope Street Café and the catering team with heart. For her, community is about more than providing services - it is about creating opportunities, building connections, and ensuring every person is treated with dignity and respect.
