From 1986 to 2026, stories of community connection, environmental restoration, grant and funding applications, guided walks, salinity solutions, education for young and old and hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours! 🌱 Landcare has achieved great things throughout the Goulburn Broken Catchment, across numerous Landcare Networks and countless passionate people. Thank you Goulburn Broken CMA for celebrating, appreciating and supporting the work of Landcare groups and networks at a gathering of over 70 people in Euroa last Friday 🌱

What a great night of bird discoveries!

Last night's Pelican and Shorebirds presentation attracted 21 keen community members, all eager to learn more about our amazing waterbirds. 🐦💚

Some highlights included:

🦩 Pelicans can travel up to 300 km around Port Phillip Bay.

📏 Male pelicans have longer bills than females.

🥚 A typical clutch contains 1-3 eggs.

🚛 They aren't too fussy about where they eat and are known to visit local landfills for a quick feed.

✈️ The remarkable Eastern Curlew can undertake an epic journey from Broome to Siberia, flying for 7-10 days straight!

Goulburn Murray Landcare Network is running a FREE four-day Landcare Extension Training intensive in Echuca 📍

It’s a great chance to get out of the classroom, see what’s happening on the ground across the Goulburn Murray region, and meet people working in ag and conservation.

What you’ll get up to:
🌏 Learning about cultural land management with the Yorta Yorta Nation
🌾 Farm tours, from dairy and industrial h**p to the Fruit Bowl region

✂️Girgarre Pruning Workshop 🌼

A wonderful day out at our recent pruning workshop with Lou Costa from Design By Nature. We were joined by the Friends of Gargarro, Gargarro Green Thumbs Nursery and of Moama Botanic Garden at the Gargaroo Botanic Gardens in Girgaree.

Participants learned practical techniques to prune with confidence and got hands-on practice learning how to thoughtfully prune to improve plant health, productivity and longevity.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and shared their enthusiasm for sustainable gardening and land management at this beautiful regional garden.

Victorian Landcare Awards and 40th Years of Landcare Celebration🌱

We're incredibly proud to have attended this year's awards ceremony and honoured to have been nominated for both Victorian Landcare Networks and Community Partnerships categories alongside our inspiring fellow Landcare Groups and individuals.

Hosted by Costa Georgiadis, there nine national categories to celebrate innovation, environmental leadership, sustainable agriculture, First Nations Peoples, women in Landcare, youth, Coastcare, community partnerships and an additional four Victorian categories.

This event is a great opportunity to see and meet with other Landcare volunteers and professionals from across the state and to celebrate the 40 Years of Landcare Victoria.

Congratulations to all nominees and award winners. Together, we're creating a lasting impact for people, land, and nature. 🌱
