Lutheran Care

Lutheran Care Lutheran Care provides community services in South Australia and the Northern Territory. Ours is a powerful and persistent voice for the voiceless.

At Lutheran Care, we believe our communities are stronger when each and every person feels included and cared for. Founded 50 years ago on the principles of the Lutheran Church, we have always been champions of advocacy and equity, serving the needs and fighting for the rights of those who have fallen through the cracks of the system. Whoever you are, wherever you come from, we will walk side by s

ide with you, regardless of cultural background, sexual orientation, gender identity, belief systems or circumstances. Beyond working to have a lasting, positive impact on peopleโ€™s lives, we are determined to build hope, understanding and drive long-term systematic change. Unbound by convention, we are leaders in our sector and community, always exploring new, innovative ways of helping people find comfort and purpose. We seek no reward or recognition beyond doing whatโ€™s right for our people. This is what inspires and drives us. It is the source of our unity and our strength. Caring and warm, we are guided by faith and compassion, always listening, advocating and building stronger communities where people can belong and thrive. SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDELINES:

Father's Day is marching this way... if you need to buy a gift, please consider purchasing from our Lutheran Care Op Shops and Elcies Thrift Stores.

You never know what you'll find on our shelves, but there's something for every budget.

Bring the kids in with their pocket money and find something for Dad or Grandpa, and let him know that the money you spend will also help fund vital programs for vulnerable South Australians.

Need some inspiration? How about:

๐Ÿ’ Some merch from the club he supports.
๐Ÿ’ A game you can play as a family.
๐Ÿ’ A novel from his favourite author or biography from someone he admires.
๐Ÿ’ Some new dancing shoes and a CD for him to practise his Dad moves.
๐Ÿ’ One of his favourite flicks on DVD so you can watch it together.
๐Ÿ’ Something in line with his hobbies or interests.
๐Ÿ’ A plant.
๐Ÿ’ A puzzle.
๐Ÿ’ Exercise or sporting gear.
๐Ÿ’ Something silly to make him laugh.
๐Ÿ’ A cap and new sunnies for the spring and summer ahead.
๐Ÿ’ Stationery, storage or artwork for his home office or 'man cave'.
๐Ÿ’ Or check out the photos for some more ideas! Please note, this stock is no longer available, but we promise there is always plenty in our stores that Dad will love. Pop in and explore today!

๐ŸŒธ Spring is finally here!

If the new season has given you a spring in your step and a renewed urge to sort out your home, why not make it a spring clean for the ages?

Declutter your drawers, clear out those cupboards and give your pre-loved treasures a second chance โ€“ because your donations can help Lutheran Care support South Australians in need.

If you have good-quality pre-loved clothing, shoes, accessories, homewares, bedding, toys or bric-a-brac that still have plenty of life left in them, bring them along to your nearest Elcies Thrift Store or our Blair Athol Donation Distribution Centre.

Our rule of thumb? Is it good enough that youโ€™d give it to a friend?

If the answer is yes, please bring it into our volunteers at Lutheran Care. Weโ€™ll make sure your generous donation goes to good use.

๐Ÿญ Only two performances remain!

There are just two performances left of State Opera South Australia's five-star production of Hansel & Gretel, with tickets still available for tonight (Thursday 27 August) and Saturday 29 August at Her Majesty's Theatre.

And thereโ€™s an added reason to book through Lutheran Careโ€™s dedicated link: a portion of every ticket purchased will be donated to Lutheran Care to help us prevent homelessness.

Weโ€™re grateful to State Opera South Australia for the opportunity to be part of this partnership, and for welcoming some of our team and guests to experience this wonderful production.

Congratulations to the cast, crew and everyone at SOSA on a brilliant show โ€” and thank you for helping us turn a great night out into practical support for people experiencing hardship.

Last Saturday, Lutheran Care's Central Intake Service team in Alice Springs were invited to attend the 2026 National NAIDOC Week Awards Ceremony - an event that recognises the outstanding contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people whose leadership, dedication and triumphs strengthen communities and inspire future generations.

The event was held in beautiful Mparntwe and brought together First Nations leaders, artists, elders and young achievers all over Australia.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees on the evening ๐Ÿ‘โค
