Lutheran Care

Lutheran Care Lutheran Care provides community services in South Australia and the Northern Territory. Ours is a powerful and persistent voice for the voiceless.

At Lutheran Care, we believe our communities are stronger when each and every person feels included and cared for. Founded 50 years ago on the principles of the Lutheran Church, we have always been champions of advocacy and equity, serving the needs and fighting for the rights of those who have fallen through the cracks of the system. Whoever you are, wherever you come from, we will walk side by s

ide with you, regardless of cultural background, sexual orientation, gender identity, belief systems or circumstances. Beyond working to have a lasting, positive impact on peopleโ€™s lives, we are determined to build hope, understanding and drive long-term systematic change. Unbound by convention, we are leaders in our sector and community, always exploring new, innovative ways of helping people find comfort and purpose. We seek no reward or recognition beyond doing whatโ€™s right for our people. This is what inspires and drives us. It is the source of our unity and our strength. Caring and warm, we are guided by faith and compassion, always listening, advocating and building stronger communities where people can belong and thrive. SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDELINES:

Thank you so much to Good Shepherd Lutheran School, Para Vista for participating in our Wear Your Winter Woollies fundraiser earlier this week. These donations are greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ™

To show solidarity and support families and individuals in need this winter, Lutheran Care is again challenging local schools, workplaces, community groups and church congregations to 'Wear Your Winter Woollies'!

Simply select a date during winter 2026 to take part and encourage everyone to wear their favourite woollies on the day.

Participants can then contribute either a gold coin donation to our Winter Appeal, long-life food/hygiene items to our Emergency Relief program or warm, good quality clothing to support someone in need.

A little of your world can change theirs ๐Ÿซถ๐ŸŒ

Lutheran Care is seeking respite carers to Be the Village for South Australian children and young people in care. Respite carers provide a short stay for those in care living with long-term foster families.

Through everyday moments of family life, such as kicking a footy, spending time outdoors and building relationships, you can help a foster child feel welcomed, connected and included.

To learn more about becoming a foster carer with Lutheran Care or to register for an upcoming information session, visit lutherancare.org.au

Every client that walks through our doors has a story and Deb from our Emergency Relief team is a good listener.

She understands what itโ€™s like more than many, as she has also seen hard times in her life.

Here she tells the story of a woman who came into Lutheran Care and was losing her home.

Deb sprung into action and was able to support her, thanks to the generosity of our donors.

Your gift to Lutheran Care's 2026 Winter Appeal can help keep South Australians in need warm, fed and cared for this winter.

Please help us extend our services to meet demand, so more people can be supported when they need it most.

Great to see one of Lutheran Care's financial counsellors, Peter Schirmer, featured in The Lutheran magazine for his impactful work supporting people in financial hardship.

After nearly a decade as executive officer of the Lutheran Church of Australia, he began to reflect on what the next stage of life might look like. Rather than stepping away into retirement, he felt drawn closer to the frontline to assist others in need.

Read about Peter's story here ๐Ÿ‘‡

Seeing how small acts of care can change a life has shaped the way financial counsellor Peter Schirmer walks alongside people experiencing hardship today.
