Brethren.
One of our brethren has his birthday today. RW Bro. Ernie Lewis turns 99 today.
He joined masonry in 1952 while working at Bright, Vic. He affiliated with Lodge Q St A in 1953 and has been a member of our Lodge ever since. He is our oldest, as well as our longest member. He has been WM of our Lodge 5 times, a couple of years in succession. He remembers when we had over 200 members in our Lodge alone. Many members of his family were members going back to when the lodge St Andrew was first consecrated.

Friends, at midday today my wife will be starting the 24 Hour going without challenge this is in support of the Terry Campese Foundation which is operating the sleep bus for the homeless in the Queanbeyan area. This challenge is raising money for the TCF to continue the work they have started with the sleep bus and supporting those less fortunate than ourselves in our town.

Please give consideration to supporting Fiona and this cause.

I have again decided to support the Vinnie's CEO Sleepout, to support their appeal to raise funds for homelessness. The numbers of homeless people, both men and women, seem to be growing. This is not only in the city areas, but in the rural areas as well, including Queanbeyan.

This year has been quite hard for me so far, but I would still like to help the homeless.

As a Freemason, we aim to support our local community through benevolence and charity. If you could assist by making a donation to the appeal it would be greatly appreciated. By me for helping my efforts, by Vinnie's by supporting their appeal, and by homeless people throughout Australia for your kindness in trying to help them.

Please give my request some consideration. It is a very worthy cause that helps your local community.
My friend Cleve Gabriel is also supporting the appeal as well. Last year Cleve, Paul and myself formed a team Freemasons of NSW & ACT and our team raised approximately $16,000 for the appeal. This year Paul is unable to attend due to work commitments, but he has already raised over $400 for the team.

If you would like to support by donating to our team, the link to that page is https://www.ceosleepout.org.au/fundraisers/freemasonsofnswact

We've decided to sleep under a cardboard box. This winter, we'll be sleeping outdoors on one of the coldest nights of the year to help raise money for people experiencing homelessness in my city. Help us have the biggest impact we can by supporting the Vinnies CEO Sleepout today. Your donation will....

One of the great principles of Freemasonry is that great virtue - Charity; and to us Charity starts at home. Our home is our local community, and for our Lodge that is Queanbeyan and surrounds.

Walking home this morning I called in to the QPRC building and sat with a number of others and read the papers in the foyer. When I finished I noticed a book on display, ‘Tales from Two Cities - Canberra-Queanbeyan across two centuries.’ Written by Mark Butz.

The book is 440 pages with colour photos, and is a fundraiser for two local charities- Respite Care for Qbn (Yvonne Cuschieri’s dream) and Treehouse Queanbeyan.

Stories of Queanbeyan and its locals from the early 1800’s to current times. A great incentive by Mark to raise money for local people in need.

Lodge Queanbeyan St Andrew has been active in our community since 1877, helping people in need. A lot goes unnoticed and unpublicised, but it still happens.

Please support the two worthy causes. Make a donation and grab a book. Details are on the photo, but here they are again;
Treehouse, BSB 641800, ACC 200230705, take a screenshot of the transfer and show it to collect your copy.

Let’s all help our local community.

Friday night, 7 March saw a District meeting held by Lodge Cooma Monaro and The Mountain Lodge of Bombala at the Cooma Masonic Centre. The work for the evening was raising Bro. Bernie McDonald of Lodge Cooma Monaro. WM of Lodge C M, VW Bro. Ron Jaajaa invited Rt W Bro. Russell Yelds of The Mountain Lodge to take the Chair for the ceremony.

Lodges from Cooma Monaro, The Mountain Lodge, Lodge Ethos, Lodge of Truth Braidwood, Canberra Daylight Lodge, Lodge Kingsford Smith, Pambula Daylight Lodge, Lodge Bega Remembrance and Lodge Queanbeyan St. Andrew had brethren present; with several fraternal visits.

It was noted by Rt W Bro. Yelds that present for the raising ceremony were 3 members of Lodge Queanbeyan St. Andrew from the Gorman family. V W Bro. Bruce Gorman, a Past Master of Lodge Cooma Monaro; his son, V W Bro. Chris Gorman, initiated in Lodge Cooma Monaro and a Past Master of Lodge Queanbeyan St. Andrew; and the third generation, Chris’ son, Jordan Gorman, the sitting Master of Lodge Queanbeyan St. Andrew. None present could recall any meeting where 3 generations sat in open Lodge at the same meeting.

This was a great night, an historic night particularly for Lodge Cooma Monaro, and one which Bro. McDonald will no doubt remember well.
