The Cooperative is excited to announce Carinya Horizons, a new transitional housing project for older women at risk of homelessness, supported by the Housing Australia Future Fund and a pro-bono consultation team. The Development Application has been submitted and is currently under assessment.

Join us on Sunday 26 October to raise money for our affordable housing building fund, while enjoying the musical talent of Sam Row, Michael Row, Geraldine Triffitt and Joanne Davey.

There will be music from Chopin, Madelssohn, Bach and more.

There's nothing better than a safe and warm bed on a cold Winter night, right? And yet, not everyone in our community can enjoy this simple pleasure.

You can help! Support the 24 Hours Without Challenge!

Starting tomorrow, our generous participants will spend 24 hours in the shoes of someone experiencing homelessness in our community. With the guidance of a mentor from one of the region’s homelessness services, and under a set of pre-determined scenarios, participants will live from hour to hour experiencing the results of real, unpredictable life circumstances. Over 24 hours they may need to contact support services, seek food, shelter and/or transport with limited and changing resources.

All funds raised go directly towards the Queanbeyan Night Podz, a community owned and run service that gives people a safe and secure place to sleep if they are homeless, at risk of homelessness or sleeping in an unsafe situation.

Looking for a way to really make a difference?

Join Indigo and the other participants of the 24 Hours Without Challenge, who will be spending 24 hours on 7 and 8 August experiencing the life of someone homeless in our community.

"I want to undertake this challenge not only to foster more empathy in my own life, but to show others what being housing insecure looks like on a daily basis. There are unlimited issues in our society which need attention and care, and we can't pay attention to them all. This is one I want to pay attention to for the rest of my life." Says Indigo.

Looking for a fun country event this weekend?

Support Luke Watson's 24 hours without by attending his fundraising event at the Braidwood Commercial Hotel, this Saturday from 4pm. There will be pies and music, but more importantly every dollar raised will go towards the 24Hr Without challenge.
