Wonderful Women of Wamboin

Wonderful Women of Wamboin The Wonderful Women of Wamboin (WWOW) is a social group for women in Wamboin and the surrounding rural areas of Bywong, Sutton, Bungendore and Gundaroo.

Women in Queanbeyan and the ACT are also welcome to come along. WWOW was started about late 2007 to provide women living rurally an avenue for social connections in their community. WWOW meets on Mondays, 10:00am to 12:00 noon at the Wamboin Community Hall, Bingley Way, Wamboin. Except for the last Monday of the month when they go out for a group lunch. Participants are asked for a $2 contribution which is used to pay for the hall hire.

Today is the fifth Monday of the month, and WWOW will be going out for lunch today. We will not be meeting at the Wamboin Hall.

We also had a great time yesterday at the Bywong Car Boot Sale. We had lots of people come up to chat to us at our stall. We handed out flyers about our group and also the Thursday Drop-in social Group, which also meets at the Wamboin hall 10-12 (on Thursdays).

And here's a group of WWOW preparing for their trip to Bali in 2009. By golly they had a lot of fun.

Trauma teddy bears WWOW knitted for the Queanbeyan Ambulance crew to give to stressed patients. This photo was taken way back in 2009. A number of WWOW have moved interstate now but Di Stoll continues to knit countless ones - too many to count.

Tomorrow Monday 12th January 2026 the Wonderful Women of Wamboin (WWOW) will resume our Monday catch-ups at 10am at the Wamboin Community Hall, Bingley Way, Wamboin.

It has recently been painted, so there will be the smell of paint hanging around. Needless to say we will be there. So, looking forward to seeing you all again. And especially, we extend an invitation to other women who would like to join us. We'd love to meet you. No doubt it may be rather late by the time you read this. But no worries. We are at the Hall from 10am through to 12noon. So feel free to pop in even if it's just for an hour or so.

Wishing everyone a great start to 2026. May it be the best yet.

Today at WWOW Robyn brought in her lace work. She explained how it works. So fascinating.

This weekend just passed the Bungendore QUilters held their annual quilt exhibition and we are so proud because one of our members, Merle Ketley was invited as the guest exhibitor for the 2025 expo. She is a former secondary textiles educator and artist, with skills in design, cultural costumes, Middle Eastern musical instruments and belly dancing! But we all know more don’t we. Merle is a dynamo with many skills, such that she has created pages for a number of local groups including WWOW and more. Below is a photo of Merle at the exhibition where her textile and jewellery skills were on prime display on stage. Congratulations Merle for a great display of your creativity.
