Congratulations to all the residents whose applications for the Aspire Education Fund were successful this year!

We have funded 25 applicants up to $1,000 each in 2026 to help Year 7-12 students who are living in City West Housing homes to further their education. We provided funding for a range of expenses such as school and sports uniforms, tutoring, sports registration fees, excursions, art lessons and more!

What a great investment in our young residents’ futures and a way to ease cost-of-living pressures on their parents and carers!

In partnership with 50-Up Circus and Council of the Ageing (COTA), we’re inviting City West Housing residents aged 50+ to join us for a fun and unique workshop!

Come along for a playful afternoon where you can learn new skills, meet others, and have a go in a relaxed and supportive environment. No circus experience needed, just bring your curiosity!

Time: 12:00pm – 1:30pm

During the session, you’ll have the chance to learn skills like:
- Juggling and spinning plates
- Light partner balance and floor exercises
- Beginner-friendly aerial movements (for those who are feeling adventurous!)

Everything is guided step-by-step by experienced instructors, with activities adapted for people of all levels and abilities!

A big thank you to everyone who came along to say hi at the recent Waterloo Pet Day!

It was wonderful meeting all your furry friends and getting creative together with some paw print art.

We loved seeing so many pets and owners enjoying the day and connecting with the community.

As we celebrate our pets this month, we'd like to share a few friendly reminders to help keep our communities clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone:

• Make sure your pet is registered, microchipped, desexed if appropriate and wearing identification tags.

• Be mindful of neighbours by managing excessive barking and keeping pets supervised (cats indoors, dogs on leashes in common areas).

Thank you for being responsible pet owners and helping make our communities great places for both people and pets!

🐾🎉 A big congratulations to the winners of the City West Housing Cutest Pet Competition 2026! 🎉🐾

After an incredible response from our community and lots of adorable entries, the votes are in! 🐶🐱

🥇 1st Place: Tamarind with an amazing 156 likes
🥈 2nd Place: Teddy and Cheetah with 61 likes
🥉 3rd Place: Neddy with 42 likes

Our winners will each be receiving their prize of a pet shop gift card to spend on their favourite treats!

Thank you to all the residents who shared photos of your furry friends with us and to everyone who voted. We loved seeing all the cute pets and celebrating them with our wonderful community!

As National Reconciliation Week begins, we celebrate one year of City West Housing’s Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). We’re proud of our progress and excited about what’s ahead.

Our team remains committed to creating relationships, respect, and opportunities for First Nations people.

One achievement we’re especially proud of is our housing commitment to at least 12% of homes allocated to First Nations households. We’re proud to share that this figure currently sits at 13%.

City West Housing also employs an Aboriginal Liaison Officer, Shane.

Shane supports meaningful relationships with our First Nations residents and strengthens cultural understanding across our services. He works closely with Housing Managers during visits six weeks after residents move in.

These visits help residents feel comfortable, supported, and welcomed in their new homes.

Our goal is to create an inclusive environment where First Nations residents feel valued, respected, and empowered.

City West Housing is excited to announce that expressions of interest are now open for the new Tallowwood Apartments, delivering quality affordable rental housing in the Bayside local government area from the end of July 2026.

As a not-for-profit/for-purpose affordable housing provider, City West Housing is committed to helping essential workers and local households access secure, well-located homes at 74.9% of market rent.

If you currently live or work in the Bayside Council area and are looking for affordable, long-term rental housing close to work, transport and community amenities, we encourage you to register your interest now.

Calling all shower singers, musical theatre lovers, and karaoke stars!

We’ve joined forces with City of Sydney to bring Green Square its very own community choir!

Join our wonderful singing teacher, Carmella, for a fun and welcoming singing group where you can explore your voice, build confidence, and experience the joy of singing with others. No experience needed, everyone is welcome, so feel free to drop in!

Hosted by the City of Sydney, this free community event will run from 10:30am–2:30pm at the corner of George & Raglan Streets, Waterloo.

There will be:
• Free pet tag engraving
• Pet photobooth
• Giveaways & information stalls
• Face painting
• Free lunch & coffee from food trucks, while stocks last

A fun day out for pets and their humans alike!

Community housing residents in the City of Sydney area with a pension or healthcare card can also get free vet services like desexing, microchipping and vaccinations.
