At just 17, Amber founded the South Australian Youth Forum, a youth‑led organisation creating real pathways for young people to influence the issues that affect them. Today, she works with organisations across Australia to strengthen youth engagement, build meaningful co‑design processes, and champion collaboration as the foundation of good decision‑making.

Research shows that loneliness at work is linked to wellbeing, engagement, retention and performance. At our national conference in October, Professor Sarah Wright is leading a practical, interactive workshop exploring strategies to build genuine connection and reduce loneliness within workplace environments.

Professor Wright is an organisational behaviour researcher specialising in workplace relationships, social connection and employee wellbeing.

During Loneliness Awareness Week, more than 800 people completed the connector quiz, and the results are a reminder that our communities are full of different types of connectors. Some bring people together, others connect through listening, kindness, invitations, or simply noticing when someone might need company. Each style plays a role in helping people feel seen, supported and less alone, and together they create the conditions where connection can grow.

Grace joined a volunteer program offering companionship for the elderly, but what she got out of it was so much more. Paired with Pam, it was a mutual love of Prince that made the 24 and 73 year old connect. Some 2 years later, that shared interest has blossomed into a special friendship.
