Over 50 people packed the room at Citiplace last night, testimony to the amazing solidarity Perth folk feel towards our lgbtqi community around the world. New (and newish) arrivals Sinem and Julian, shared stories of their journeys, fears faced in hostile and dangerous places, emotional memories, and profound gratitude at now being able to live freely and safely. Our thanks to David Goncalves for sensitively hosting the discussion. Also thanks to Romy and Blaise from the CRISP program which facilitates the link between Rainbow Refugee Perth and overseas lgbtqi refugees.
There are currently several queerfolk overseas whose Australian visas are finalsed. They are ready to travel to Australia and are awaiting being matched with a support group. Anyone interested should call CRISP or June 0435 517 753 for more information
