I haven’t just spent two years raising my little boy. I’ve spent two years rebuilding myself, too.
Before becoming a mum. I was independent, ambitious, creative, full of dreams and excited for the next chapter of my life. Then I became a mum, and things changed. I gained the greatest love of my life, I lost parts of myself. And found new versions of me I didn’t know existed!
I didn’t expect motherhood to be so hard. I didn’t expect to spend so much of that first year surviving, battling PPD and PPA, questioning myself and wondering why something I wanted so badly could feel so overwhelming.
I loved my little boy more than anything, but I missed the woman I used to be, if im honest.
And for a while, I wondered if I’d ever find her again. But slowly, I have.
In asking for help. In healing. In laughing again. In chasing dreams and finding things that make me feel like me.
In creating Confident Little Minds and turning one of the hardest chapters of my life into something that helps other mums feel less alone. And all the while, I’ve been raising this beautiful, cheeky, adventurous little boy who has taught me more about love, patience and myself than I ever imagined 🙏🏻😍✨
These two years haven’t always been beautiful. There’s been tears, guilt, exhaustion, frustration and days I’ve wished away, only to wish I could have them back.
But there’s also been so much love, laughter, growth and magic.
I’ve learnt that I can be grateful for this life and still acknowledge how hard it’s been. That I can be a good mum and still be figuring it all out - just like you! We are all doing our best mama 🌸
I want to keep discovering the woman I’m becoming.
Because two years ago, I became Rory’s mum.
But I never stopped being Ali.
And I think I’m finally starting to understand that I get to be both 🥹💗
If you’re new here, welcome. If you’ve been around from the beginning THANK YOU! This space is just as much yours as it is mine and I’m so grateful to have you part of the village! And wherever you are on your motherhood journey, please know there is no right or wrong way to do this!
You’re enough. And you’re doing enough too 🫶🏻
