Hi everyone,
Liddelow Scout Group (based at the Hume Road Pavilion in Thornlie) is currently looking for new adult members to help support our wonderful opportunities for kids.
We need a new Treasurer (our current Treasurer is also helping run the Cub section, and needs someone else to take on the financial role), and more leaders and adult helpers to share running our Joey (5-7yrs), Cub (8-10yrs, and Scout (11-14yrs) sections. You can find more information about these roles at https://www.volunteer.com.au/volunteering?organisationid=102, or by emailing me at [email protected] or [email protected] The Treasurer role can be done remotely, but it would be helpful if someone could meet up with us at least occasionally to build relationships and be part of our community. (WWCC and National Police Clearance are required for any adult role in ScoutsWA.)
We also have spaces in all youth sections, for 5-25-year-old young people who would like to come and see what it's all about, and KidSport can also be used against membership/activity fees.
* Our Joey Scout section (5-7yo's) normally meets 5:30pm-6:30pm on Mondays, but is currently meeting with our Cub section while we train new leaders.
* Our Cub Scout section (8-10yo's) meets 7pm-8:30pm on Tuesdays.
* Our Scout section (11-14yo's) meets 7-9pm on Mondays.
* Our Venturer section (14-18yo's) meets 7pm-9pm on Thursdays.
* Our Rover Scout section (18-25yo's) is so new that they haven't organised regular activities yet - this is a great opportunity for young adults to meet others who like outdoor activities, and get out there doing fun stuff. Rovers run their own section, with support from adult leadership.
* Venturers, Rovers & Leaders can also earn nationally-recognised certificates through Scouts Australia's RTO - Scouts Australia Institute of Training, which awards qualifications at no extra cost, based on assessment of skills and activities enjoyed during normal scouting activities (and even other things done outside Scouts).
All sections have occasional weekend activities and camps - usually a couple of times each term - these aren't compulsory, but help to earn badges. π
(If you're interested, but the relevant time doesn't suit, drop me a message at [email protected] or [email protected] , and I can try to find a nearby group that runs the relevant age group on a different day.)
