Short films, good company and a suspiciously lucky committee! 🎬😂

We had 37 members and guests join us for our short film night presented by the North Bellarine Film Festival. Another lovely evening of film, catching up and enjoying time together.

How lucky are we to have such talented locals who star in, produce, write, edit and fund these amazing projects? So much creativity right here in our community! 👏🎥

And did we mention the scones? Mmmmm… worthy of their own standing ovation! 😋

SEVEN members have already prepaid their 2027 memberships! Brilliant! 👏 Clearly more organised than those of us still wondering where 2026 went.

Meanwhile, the committee somehow managed to scoop the raffle… Do we ban them, investigate them, or just ask them to buy our lottery tickets? 🤔🤣

Thanks to everyone who joined us—you make these evenings such a pleasure! ❤️

🎬 Lights, Camera, October!

Hello OGFS friends!

Welcome to our 9th film night of 2026!

October already?! Where has the year gone? Hopefully you’re all enjoying this gorgeous spring weather, along with the uninvited moths and mozzies who seem determined to join the party! 🦟

This month we’re delighted to be screening a selection of short films from the North Bellarine Film Festival!

Last year’s screening was fabulous, full of surprises, creativity and a few head-scratching moments! Who knew a film lasting just a few minutes could pack such a punch?

We’re looking forward to another evening of wonderful storytelling, a few laughs and, no doubt, some lively opinions!

We’re screening just a selection of the festival’s films. You’ll find the link to the full program and ticket information in our October newsletter.

🎬 TRIANGLE OF SADNESS… WHAT DID WE JUST WATCH?! 🤣😳🙄

Last night’s Triangle of Sadness certainly took us on a journey!

We laughed, shuddered, eye-rolled, squirmed and occasionally wondered what on earth was happening… yet somehow, we loved it! 😂

The final verdict from our discerning film critics?

⭐️ 3.4 out of 5 ⭐️

Not exactly a standing ovation, but definitely not a walkout either! We’ll call it “confused, slightly disturbed, but thoroughly entertained.” 🎥😂

A HUGE thank you to everyone who persevered with buying raffle tickets. Apparently purchasing a raffle ticket became the second endurance challenge of the evening! 🎟️🤣 We genuinely appreciate you going the extra mile.

Thanks for another fabulous night of food, film, laughs and questionable cinematic moments.

Triangle of Sadness: 3.4/5.
Triangle of Entertainment: 5/5. ⭐️🍿🥂

See you next month!

🎬🍿 RIGHTO, FILM BUFFS… THIS ONE’S ON YOU! 🍿🎬

We’re starting to think about our 2027 films and, frankly, we could use your brilliant cinematic brains.

Seen something fabulous lately?
Discovered a little gem nobody else seems to know about? 💎
Still banging on about a film you saw six months ago?
Or perhaps there’s a movie you think EVERYONE simply must see?

👉 SEND IT OUR WAY!

Pop your suggestions into our 2027 Film Suggestions link, or embrace your inner film critic and drop them into our suggestion box at the September or October screenings.

⚠️ Small disclaimer: suggesting The Sound of Music 14 times does not necessarily improve its chances. 😂

Suggestions close 13 October, then the serious business of choosing begins. 🎥

So have a think, raid your memory, consult your movie-loving friends and send us your favourites.

🍿 Your suggestion could be coming soon to a screen near you… well, our screen anyway! 🎬✨

Film Night Wrap-Up 🎬

What a night! 🍷🍽️

48 members enjoyed a delicious dinner, with huge thanks again to the Golf Club for looking after us so beautifully.

Then 53 of us settled in for the main event… the movie! 🎬

And after all that viewing, pondering and post-movie discussion, the final rating was a very respectable 3.7 ⭐️

Not quite Oscar territory, but we’ll take it! 😂
