Last Wednesday (first Wednesday of the month) we had the first w**ding session for 2026. We were removing or cutting a non native Melaleuca. It's a very pretty bush with lovely flowers but it shouldn't be here!

I went off to see what I could find, I've labeled the photos. The water levels are getting rather low, we need some rain.

Last Wednesday BCN hosted the last w**ding event of the year, again working towards eliminating the most unwelcome and invasive African W**d Orchid.

The Wedge-tailed Eagles were flying above us, being chased by Magpies - again!

There were so many Hoverflies around and also many Reed Warblers. I couldn't get a photo of a Reed Warbler, although I saw quite a few. They were too quick for me, darting out of one patch of reeds and into another.

Some photos from the w**ding bee on 5th November. The focus was on pulling out South African W**d Orchid, which is an extremely invasive w**d. Huge task, it is everywhere!

Also some of the birds I saw that day and a fantastic moth.

I've captioned some of the photos for those who are interested.

The frogs were going nuts at MNYY last Wednesday. There were at least 3 species we could hear, possibly 4. Can you identify them?

It was another successful w**ding day at MNYY last Wednesday and the weather was kind.

The most exciting thing that happened for me was encountering this Long-necked Turtle.

Join us tomorrow for another great w**ding session!

Join us tomorrow for another great w**ding session!

The fantastic Friends of Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk are back at it this week for more habitat restoration! 💚

These volunteers meet on the first Wednesday each month to help restore this unique reserve through w**ding efforts. It is also a great way to get early access to this reserve, learn about indigenous and w**dy plants, spot some cool birds or meet new people. We always finish each session with morning tea and home-baked goods.
