🎨 VOTE – Broome Primary School , WA! 💧
A journey from Jila to the coast!

On Yawuru Country in Rubibi (Broome), 57 Year 5 and 6 students contributed drawings that came together in one connected concrete floor mural. It follows a creek from Jila (freshwater), through a pindan garden and towards the beach, with the words “We Care for Country” woven through it. 🌿

Frogs, fish, dragonflies, blue-tongued lizards, hibiscus, bush onions and lilies celebrate Broome’s biodiversity, alongside scenes of gardening, recycling and caring for wildlife. 🐸🦋

Students, families, former students and staff all rolled up their sleeves to bring it to life. 🖌️

🎨 VOTE – Parramatta Public School , NSW! 🌿
A mural that celebrates the place they call home!

Designed by Year 6 Art Club student Sanaayesha Doi, the mural brings together the Parramatta River, local wildlife, native plants and the many cultures represented within the school community. 🐍🦜

It also celebrates Parramatta’s deep connection to Burramatta, the Parramatta River and the Burramattagal people, and highlights the biodiversity found within a busy urban environment. 🌏

Around 20 students from Years 2, 3, 5 and 6 worked together, supported by teachers and a YR12 community artist volunteer - Summer Pixton. 🎨

Four mascots, one big message!

In Katherine, the Year 5 and 6 students of Clyde Fenton Primary School have created a mural bringing four much-loved school mascots to life:

🪶 Jazzy the Safe Jabiru
🐦 Kali the Kind Kingfisher
🦩 Peppy the Proud Pelican

Together, they show how small, everyday actions can make a big difference. ♻️ The original concept was created by Tobias, Blake, Xavy, Amy, Riley, Kade and Allan F. 🎨

🎨 VOTE – Holland Park State School , QLD! 🌏
One student’s big idea, three walls wide!

Year 5 student Reeva Shah’s design was selected as Queensland’s winning entry, and around 15 x Year 5 students worked with teachers Cassie Walker, Clair Savage and Kelsey Kudeborg to bring it to life. 🏆

The mural connects the city and the coast, with trees, wildlife and marine life highlighting biodiversity. Reeva’s poem runs across the three-wall design:

“Beneath the sun and starry skies - our precious homeland softly lies. Pick up the trash, preserve our view - Keep Australia Beautiful for me and you!” 💙

It’s part of Gribbin Green, the school’s outdoor learning space, where students spot kookaburras, rainbow lorikeets, tawny frogmouths and even the occasional koala! 🐨

🎨 VOTE – Exeter Primary School , TAS! 🦘
Celebrating the Tamar Valley, one brushstroke at a time!

At the centre of Exeter’s mural is kanamaluka / the Tamar River estuary, surrounded by the school’s resident possum, wallabies, pademelons, Green Rosellas and plovers, with underwater species inspired by Beneath the Tamar. Even the seagulls made it in! 🌊🐦

It began as a legacy project for the 2025 Grade 6 Peer Leaders, who gave the school’s cow sculpture, Moonalisa, a colourful new lease on life when paint ran short. 🐄 This year’s Peer Leaders have developed the idea further, adding new ideas around the school’s changing waste management practices. ♻️

🎨 VOTE – Carlton Preschool, (Port Augusta Children's Centre) SA! 🐟
“We are from different seas but we all swim together.”

In Port Augusta, the Carlton Preschool community is bringing families, educators and the wider community together through a mural inspired by the children’s own fishing-themed play. 🎨

The preschoolers have painted the metal fish that form part of the artwork, with each fish representing the people and families who share the Carlton community. 🐠 Their message: caring for the land is caring for the oceans. 🌱

Each year, they hope to host a “fish painting day” so new families can add their own fish to the mural. 💙

🎨 VOTE – St Joseph's Catholic Primary School - Crib Point , VIC! 🌊
A celebration of Western Port Bay’s biodiversity!

31 Grade 5 and 6 students have created a mural inspired by the plants, animals and marine life of Western Port Bay, from mangroves and possums to kookaburras, banksias, blue-banded bees and the iconic Weedy Sea Dragon. 🐚🌳

The mangrove holds a special place in the design, reflecting the school’s partnership with OzFish and the students’ work planting more than 1,000 mangroves at Woolley’s Beach. 🌱

Their message is simple: look closely, value what is around you, and become a protector of it. 💚

🎨 VOTE – Caroline Chisholm School, ACT! 🔍
Look closer at the biodiversity on our doorstep!

Around 20 students from Years 7 to 10 in the Tuggeranong Valley have created a mural featuring the Earless Dragon, Caladenia cullata and Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos, celebrating native and threatened species found in the ACT. 🐉🌸

A magnifying glass is the central symbol, encouraging everyone to look more closely at nature and protect the biodiversity around us. Led by Canberra mural artist Geoff Filmer, the mural builds on designs developed by Year 7 students in Art class. 🎨

Today, 24 October, we’re celebrating one of Australia’s most iconic native animals: the kangaroo!
