🌊GREAT NEWS FOR AUSTRALIA’S OCEANS! 🇦🇺🌊

The Australian Government has proposed an expansion of marine sanctuaries around Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island, which would collectively fully protect an additional 670,000 square kilometres of Australia’s offshore ocean. That’s an area larger than France!

This is an important step towards protecting Australia’s extraordinary marine biodiversity, while supporting the island communities, their cultural heritage, tourism and local fishing lifestyles and livelihoods.

We congratulate Environment Minister Murray Watt and the Australian Government on this significant proposal and welcome the opportunity for communities and the public to have their say through the 60-day public consultation.

Take your lunch outdoors this weekend, and challenge yourself to make it zero waste if you can! ♻️

Pack your food in reusable containers, bring a reusable drink bottle and cloth napkin, and skip single use plastics, cling wrap and disposable cutlery! 🍴

Find a local park or green space 🌳 slow down and enjoy your meal outdoors 🥪

An outdoor picnic is also a great opportunity for kids (and adults!) to step away from screens, explore the surroundings and discover the natural world.

Before you leave, make sure you take everything you brought with you, every wrapper, container and piece of waste. And if you happen to spot a few stray pieces of litter while you’re there, why not leave the space even better than you found it? 🚮 💚

We've reached the final day of Keep Australia Beautiful Week!
Today's challenge is to Care by enjoying a zero-waste picnic outdoors.

Pack your lunch in reusable containers, bring a refillable drink bottle, cloth napkins and reusable cutlery, and skip single-use plastics wherever you can. It's a great way to enjoy nature while reducing waste.

Before you leave, make sure you take everything home with you - and if you spot a few stray pieces of litter, why not leave the space even better than you found it?

Together, these simple habits help protect wildlife, support biodiversity and keep Australia's beautiful places healthy for generations to come.
