The Animal Care Truck is heading to Windale, Lake Macquarie!

On Wednesday 16 September, AWL NSW will be at Michael Bird Oval, offering free veterinary services for pet owners in the Lake Macquarie LGA.

This visit is targeted towards low-income earners, pensioners, and those experiencing financial hardship, helping more pets receive the essential care they need.

Free services available:
- Pet health checks
- Microchipping
- Dog C3 vaccinations
- Cat F3 vaccinations

📍Michael Bird Oval, South Street, Windale

🕘 9am to 1pm

🐾 Cats must be in carriers and dogs must be leashed. Maximum of 3 pets per household.

Please prepare for weather as waiting times may be long. We look forward to supporting the community and their pets!

Its spring & this is your reminder to do tick treatment.
I got caught a few years ago. When I was late giving my cats their treatment & one got a tick. Lucky we got her to the vet in time & she recovered well. ❤️🐾❤️🐾

🐾 Help make NSW public transport more dog-friendly!

A NSW Parliamentary e-petition is calling on the NSW Government to conduct a two-year trial of a clearly identified, dog-friendly carriage on every NSW train and Metro service.

This is not a call for unrestricted access across the entire train. Dogs would need to remain on a lead or in an approved carrier, with clear standards for behaviour, cleanliness and owner responsibility. Passengers who do not wish to travel near dogs could use the remaining dog-free carriages.

Current restrictions can make life particularly difficult for people who do not own a car, including older Australians, people on lower incomes and some people with disabilities. It can limit their ability to travel with their dogs to veterinary appointments, parks, community activities and other destinations.

The petition needs 20,000 signatures from NSW residents by 4 November 2026 to be debated in NSW Parliament.
