HUNDREDS OF STORIES. ONE MISSION.

What’s the cost of Prevention in Action?

So far, $175,372 has been invested in helping hundreds of local families keep their pets safe, healthy and by their side.

That’s $175,372 invested in prevention.

Helping families access desexing, vaccinations, microchipping and veterinary care before financial hardship turns into surrender, separation or heartbreak.

But prevention is about more than helping one pet at a time...

Every desexing helps keep pets healthy and reduces unwanted litters.

Every vaccination protects pets against preventable disease.

Every microchip helps pets find their way home.

Every family supported means one less pet at risk of entering the pound system.

By tackling the causes of overpopulation at the source, we’re helping reduce the number of animals entering pounds and shelters, ease pressure on already overcrowded rescue organisations and give more pets the chance to stay where they belong... at home.

This is what prevention looks like.
But we can’t do it alone.

Every donation helps us reach another family, support another pet and prevent another heartbreaking outcome.

Join the mission - because we're just getting warmed up!🔥

Donate today and help us keep pets where they belong.  With the people who love them.

August: another month of prevention in action!

We’re swapping the big milestone celebrations for something just as important. The quiet, everyday work that stops problems before they start.

Throughout August, our Prevention Project numbers were:

🐶 42 dogs desexed
🐱 27 cats desexed
💉 57 pets vaccinated
📍 32 pets microchipped
🍽️ 4,151 pet meals

Behind every number is a pet, a family and a little bit of prevention that can make a big difference.

That’s 69 fewer opportunities for unwanted litters, 57 pets protected against preventable disease, and 32 pets with permanent identification to help them find their way home if they ever become lost.

And the best part? This is what prevention looks like.

A huge thank you to our incredible veterinary partners, volunteers, donors and the pet owners who chose to get their pets’ essential care sorted. We couldn’t do it without you!

69 pets healthier. 69 families supported. Countless lives impacted.

If you believe in the mission and would like to contribute to help us turn the tide on pet surrender, make a donation to our Prevention Project today!

Why do we do what we do?

Because the human pet bond is powerful.

Pets don’t just live in our homes. They become part of our families, our routines and our lives.

They’re there when we wake up. When we come home. When we’re celebrating the good days, and especially when we’re struggling through the bad ones.

They don’t judge. They don’t ask questions.

They simply stay....

For someone doing it tough, that companionship can mean everything. A pet can provide comfort, connection, routine, purpose and the reassurance that someone is waiting for you at home.

That’s why our work isn’t simply about emptying shelters or reducing numbers in pounds.

It’s about recognising the incredible bond between people and their pets, and doing everything we can to prevent that bond from being broken by financial hardship, homelessness, illness or crisis.

Because when we help a pet STAY, we’re helping their person too.

Hundreds of stories. One mission. Keeping pets and people together.

Another great addition to our Vet network!

We’re excited to introduce Tuggerah Animal Hospital, who have officially joined The Stay Foundation’s Prevention Project!

Tuggerah Animal Hospital are part of the Morisset Vet Hospital and the Charmhaven Vet Hospital family, bringing with them the same commitment to making quality veterinary care accessible and affordable to the community.

And here's the really great part. You don't have to be a Stay Foundation client to benefit from their affordable pricing! 🙌

Tuggerah Animal Hospital offer heavily discounted veterinary services to the general public, helping make essential care more affordable for everyone.

For eligible families accessing our Prevention Project, their partnership means another place where pets can receive essential preventative care such as desexing, vaccinations and microchipping.

Every new veterinary partner means more pets can access the care they need, more families can be supported, and together we can do more to prevent unwanted litters and keep pets where they belong. With the people who love them!

So, welcome aboard, Tuggerah Animal Hospital! 🐶🐱

We’re thrilled to have you as part of the team and look forward to helping plenty of pets together!

How good is this!

One of our amazing supporters dropped off a box packed with Staffy goodies! Including the indestructible Happy Staffy Co. chew toys and yummy treats!

Team member Cash tried very hard to claim the lot… but sorry Cash, these goodies have a bigger mission!

They’ll be handed out to our community at our next Community Pet Day at Survivor's R Us Incorporated in September!

Thank you to a very special staffy mum for helping us spoil some more deserving Staffies! 🤩

⭐️If you would like to donate some goodies too, please reach out to the team at [email protected]

Ronnie never thought his health issues would separate him from his boy Jackson, until it became life-threatening.

Ronnie was holding off on getting the help he needed for himself (heart surgery) until he knew his little boy was taken care of. With no family or friends nearby to help, he was referred to us by the RSPCA.

We were able to work with Ronnie and take Jackson into care ASAP, thanks to the incredible team at the Hunter Pet Motel and then to our special foster carer, Leonie, who picked him up for a farm holiday.

Jackson was treated like a member of the family who stole many hearts and made new friends on his holiday with Leonie.

What was supposed to be a 2-week stay turned into 2 months after complications in surgery, where Ronnie almost didn't make it out.

We are happy to report that Ronnie and Jackson have been reunited and are spending quality time while Ronnie recovers. Our team will stay in touch with the boys, providing ongoing pet support and friendship to help them stay together.

This story only had a happy ending because of our volunteer foster carers going above and beyond for one family.

If you want to make a difference and help us keep people & pets together, then join our team of foster carers via the link below.

💔 Honey doesn't need another home. She needs her LAST home.

Imagine spending your life wondering where you'll sleep next. Imagine being loved, going home, settling in… only to find yourself starting all over again.

For Honey, this has been her reality.
This beautiful 2 year old Staffy cross has already experienced more changes than any dog should in her short life.

Born in a Sydney animal facility, adopted as a puppy and then passed through a couple of homes, Honey has once again found herself waiting in care with the team at the City of Newcastle Animal Management Facility.

And yet… she hasn't let it change her.
Honey is still the girl who greets you with a wagging tail.

Still the girl who wants to be near her people.

Still the girl who happily curls up in her bed surrounded by her soft toys and simply snoozes the day away. 🥹

At around 18kg, she's the perfect medium sized cuddle companion and is already desexed and ready for her forever family.

Honey:

😴 Calm, gentle and happy to snooze beside you
🚶‍♀️ Easy to walk
🎓 Knows sit and shake
🧸 Loves her bed and soft toys
🐱 Has reportedly lived with a cat
🐶 Has shown no reactivity towards other dogs, although she does like her space around boisterous friends
💗 Affectionate, intelligent and eager to please.

Honey isn't looking for an action packed life or someone to constantly entertain her. She just wants someone to choose her. And keep choosing her. Someone who will give her a quiet place to sleep, a soft bed, a daily walk, a few toys, a person to follow around the house and, most importantly, the security of knowing she isn't going anywhere.
Because Honey has done enough moving.

She's had enough goodbyes.

Now she deserves to know what it feels like to finally belong.

If you have room in your heart and your home for a gentle girl who simply wants to be loved, please consider giving Honey the one thing she's been waiting for.....A forever.

Contact the team at the facility to meet Honey and take her home today!👇

Who saved who?

We might think we're the ones rescuing them. But the truth is, our dogs give us just as much in return.

They comfort us when we're having a hard day.

They make us laugh when we need it most.

They greet us like we've been gone for a lifetime.

They teach us patience, unconditional love and the joy of simply being together.

Sometimes the animal we think we saved turns out to be the one who saved us. ❤️

A huge thank you to Jo Lyons Photography for capturing these incredibly special moments and helping us celebrate the bonds that make our pets family.

📸 And now… the next round is opening soon!

If you've ever looked at your dog and thought, “I honestly don't know who saved who,” this is your chance to celebrate that bond and have it captured forever.

✨ Get your spot in the next round and be part of something truly special.

https://jolyonsphotography.com/who-saved-who

Because these aren't just portraits.

They're stories of love, connection, companionship, and the beautiful lives we share with our dogs. 🐾❤️

With $100 from each session being donated to the Stay Foundation, this truly is, a memorable experience.

Who saved who? We think the answer might be… both.
