🇦🇺 Early Australia Day Celebration with the JNU Melbourne Chinese Language & Cultural School Community

Had a wonderful time celebrating Australia Day early with the PNU Melbourne Chinese Language & Cultural School community at Berwick Secondary College, together with Councillor Scott Dowling, at the kind invitation of community leader and Principal Ms Li Xiu Mei.

It was heart-warming to see the Chinese community celebrating Australia Day in a uniquely Chinese way — the Australian National Anthem proudly sung, Waltzing Matilda beautifully rendered, vibrant cultural dances and Chinese opera performances, and everyone enjoying a friendly card game in a joyful atmosphere.

Scott Dowling shared an inspiring message on how our diverse communities are growing together to strengthen Australia’s multicultural fabric. I was also honoured to share the story of the Chinese diaspora in Malaysia and their contributions to nation-building and Chinese education, drawing a parallel with the Chinese community in Australia. By preserving and sharing our culture and traditions, we enrich Australia’s multicultural identity, strengthen social cohesion, and reflect the role of DEJIAO and Zee Cheng Khor Moral Uplifting Society Inc. (ZCK) in promoting harmony and “Love Thy Neighbour – Benefit Humanity.”

Australia is truly an inclusive and welcoming nation.
