Glad to catch up with Michael Geale at the ISOMER Mosque during Open Mosque Day.
It was heartening to see Members of Parliament working hard to uphold Australiaโ€™s multiculturalism policy and to support our diverse communities.
We look forward to working together through Casey Multifaith Network to strengthen interfaith dialogue, understanding, and social harmony. ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ Early Australia Day Celebration with the JNU Melbourne Chinese Language & Cultural School Community

Had a wonderful time celebrating Australia Day early with the PNU Melbourne Chinese Language & Cultural School community at Berwick Secondary College, together with Councillor Scott Dowling, at the kind invitation of community leader and Principal Ms Li Xiu Mei.

It was heart-warming to see the Chinese community celebrating Australia Day in a uniquely Chinese way โ€” the Australian National Anthem proudly sung, Waltzing Matilda beautifully rendered, vibrant cultural dances and Chinese opera performances, and everyone enjoying a friendly card game in a joyful atmosphere.

Scott Dowling shared an inspiring message on how our diverse communities are growing together to strengthen Australiaโ€™s multicultural fabric. I was also honoured to share the story of the Chinese diaspora in Malaysia and their contributions to nation-building and Chinese education, drawing a parallel with the Chinese community in Australia. By preserving and sharing our culture and traditions, we enrich Australiaโ€™s multicultural identity, strengthen social cohesion, and reflect the role of DEJIAO and Zee Cheng Khor Moral Uplifting Society Inc. (ZCK) in promoting harmony and โ€œLove Thy Neighbour โ€“ Benefit Humanity.โ€

Australia is truly an inclusive and welcoming nation.
Sincere thanks to Principal Li Xiu Mei for the warm hospitality and kind invitation. ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ

๐ŸŒŸ Casey Multifaith Network Diwali Greetings ๐ŸŒŸ

On behalf of the Casey Multifaith Network, we extend our heartfelt wishes to all who are celebrating Diwali โ€” the Festival of Lights.

May this sacred season fill your homes with joy, peace, and prosperity, and illuminate our community with the spirit of love, unity, and compassion.

As the lamps of Diwali shine brightly, let them remind us that light triumphs over darkness, wisdom over ignorance, and harmony over division. Together, let us continue to build bridges of understanding among all faiths and cultures in the City of Casey.

โœจ Happy Diwali! โœจ

๐ŸŒž This afternoon, representatives of the Casey Multifaith Network (CMFN) โ€” Vice President Stephen Chew and Jasbir Singh Suropada โ€” attended a fruitful and inspiring gathering hosted by Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen JP โ€“ City of Casey.

๐Ÿค The meeting strengthened bonds among diverse faith and community leaders, welcomed new members to the Network, and initiated plans for an upcoming Interfaith Dialogue on the Spirituality of Religion.

๐Ÿ™ Heartfelt thanks to Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen JP and the City of Casey for your continued leadership and support in promoting Unity in Diversity within our community.

๐Ÿ™ Interfaith Dinner 2025 โ€“ Reflections on Faith, History, and the Future
CMFN President Rehmat Mohammed, VP Stephen Chew and Committee member Anil Kolanukonda were honoured to attend the Interfaith Dinner 2025 organised by the Janssen Spirituality Centre, with three outstanding speakers:

๐Ÿ“˜ Prof Philip Hughes โ€“ What is Happening to Religion in Australia
๐Ÿ“– Mer Sandy Kouroupidis โ€“ The Origins of the Ecumenical and Interfaith Movements in Australia (1788โ€“1990)
๐ŸŒ Herbert Um โ€“ Regions and World Views (Pilot)

A deeply insightful evening exploring the historical roots of Australiaโ€™s interfaith journey, current religious trends, and regional perspectives on worldviews.

๐Ÿ’ฌ A thought-provoking question remains: Whatโ€™s next for interfaith dialogue in a changing Australia?

Letโ€™s continue to build bridges, foster understanding, and walk together with compassion.
